If you wish to spend the money for TrendMicro, that should do the job. Just check to make sure it contains a firewall, antispyware, and antivirus.

Maybe I'm just "cheap", but I'd far rather use separate programs that can do an excellent job of protection for free. I'm always a little leary of these "all in one" programs and wonder how much protection they provide in all these areas.

To answer your question we would need to know what Trend Micro program you are reffering to and what it includes, does it come with a firewall? and does it offer Spware protection? ect.

It's my thought to stay with what you have and not buy Trend micro.

What was the solution in the other post you had to that problem?

is that a complete suite by trend micro? does it contain an antivirus program as well as a firewall and antispyware?
I personally do not like the suites but that is personal preference. Trend micro is a good brand for antivirus.

I would not get rid of superantispyware it is a manual scanner and I would continue to update it and do weekly scans.

If it has the antivirus and the firewall you could get rid of avast and zone alarm.
IF it is just the antivirus you could get rid of avast.

I have no idea about their firewall, how good it is, or their antispyware. That one cost $49.99 a year for 3 computers.

Hi, I purchased a new dell laptop for my daughter. Inspirion 1530. Vista. the 30 day free mcafee has now expired & I was wondering if she should buy that one or the trend micro internet security edition that my laptop came with. I also use all the spyware & stuff you recommend but she is lax in that area. I have to make her run those. So I need the best of the two. Can you give your opinions and experience please ? Personally I haven't found a suite yet which equals let alone out performs a cafeteria software approach to protection, detection and remediation. It is not a stretch of the imagination to accept the premise that quality applications with a single dedicated focus when selected and installed by a user will out perform a suite which is painting with a broad brush.

if you decide on using something other than McAfee you will need to do the removal and use the McAfee removal tool which they have provided(their forums) to make sure all of it is off of your pc. I recently removed McAfee from my pc and am very glad I did, I had been having some problems which surprisingly totally went away as soon as McAfee was removed.
If you choose to remove it just ask I will be happy to give you the steps to get it off the pc.

I use AVAST free antivirus, zone alarm pro, malwarebytes antimalware, superantispyware, sypwareblaster and am very pleased with them.

Seems to me that a lot of people are going with those two anti-malware/anti-spyware programs (malwarebytes and superantispyware) and are putting less faith in Ad-Aware and Spybot S & D than previously. Is this so ?
