I have the McAfee Security Suite which updates automatically. I checked in the Security Center, as you instructed, and it does show that the Firewall, Automatic Updates, and Virus Protection are all enabled and working. The McAfee Suite has been installed on this computer since Day 1 and Spybot followed close behind. This is the 1st time, however, that Spybot found it to be a problem. I get the idea that this "problem" is a warning that something else (McAfee in my case) is overriding Microsoft's attempts to protect this computer? If so, then I should do nothing (i.e. do NOT allow Spybot to "fix" it)?

fwiw I just ran that program and looked around to try to figure out what you are saying. It was sitting there finished running waiting on me when I woke up. Nowhere in it can I find my email address's. It does show cookies which are written 'mike@gardenweb.com, mike@verizon.com, etc ... none of which are my email address. My computer user account/login is mike, which is where that name on each cookie came from. I dont show any firefox probably because its never been written into my registry as I've never installed it on this install of windows. If I had in the past installed a firefox and uninstalled it... it sounds like it would have left keys in the registry then I suspect SpybotSD would want to list it as protected too and write a whole bunch of unnecccessary keys blocking a whole bunch of urls under its main configuration keys. If that makes any sense and answers any of your questions... great!

I just installed Spybot with the download file spybotsd160.exe. Here's the text from the website: "Compatibility: If you have the AdAware option to scan inside archives enabled, AdAware may find files in the Spybot-S&D folder. Spybot-S&D does not contain any spyware, but it creates backups of everything you fix (until you remove those backups from the Recovery list), and AdAware complains about these backups.
