Immunize Question in Spybot 1.6 Search & Destroy

Hi,

I just downloaded the newest version of Spybot Search and Destroy 1.6 and when I did the Immunization scan it is showing that I have 6000 things unprotected.

I have no idea what is unprotected or how to find those things. Can anyone here help me with Spybot Search & Destroy for August 9, 08? Where do I go to protect those items.

I did have some problems downloading the newest version but finally found the one I needed.

it tells you what is unprotected then you hit the immunize button for it to go ahead and put the protection on.
Here is a tutorial on how to use spybot this might help you.

There is a newer program that is better than spybot now called superantispyware if you don't have it I would get it and update it then run a full scan do that about once a week, you can use it and spybot both for double coverage.

I just went in and looked again under the immunize section and now I know which ones are unprotected. One is Firefox: 6, 998,998,998= 3000 then there is Mozilla: 6, 998,998,998=3000 a total of 6000 unprotected items. I do not have Firefox installed nor do I have Mozilla installed on this computer. That is strange that they are even counting those since they are not installed. I guess they would be unprotected. "LOL"
Under the Firefox browser and the Mozilla browser it is showing my old email address not my current one. Don't know why that is either. Is it ok to leave it with the old address since I am not using those browsers?

I did not install Spybot the guys who built this computer did. I have always been somewhat confused with Spybot. I did download the new SuperAntiSpyware and have been using it along with my other Spyware removal programs.

Thanks Mikie I really appreciate this. I do have one more question. Is this a simple download or is there anything she needs to know before she downloads this? The people where I purchased my computer downloaded it for me, so I have no idea what to tell her to do on this download. Does she click on Run or Save? Mikie, I am quite sure they will fix your repoerted concern as Safer Networking Limited has historically been very responsible in fixing bugs. Howevr, there timeliness can cause some frustration. SNL knew about the slow starting as I referred to earlier. In fact, on their homepage where they announce v1.5.2 they apologize for it. It just took them quite a while to resolve the concern. Rita, Please rethink your position on CCleaner. It's fast and user friendly. Just use it with its default settings. The only people I hear having concerns are those who tinker with the original configuration. It is quite similar to the old Win 98 compatible CleanUp. If you do use the registry feature, it offers an options of saving anything a user delets. DA

Do Ctrl-Alt-Del to bring up your Task Manager, click on the Processes tab, and click once or twice on the CPU tab at the top of the listings: this will show what process is chewing up the most resources (which will probably be the culprit). Also, look at the CPU Usage line at the bottom of Task Manager and see what the % Usage is. Then report back here on what you found out.

My XP laptop used microsofts OneCare for two years and it was by far the most simple no brainer Firewall, Anti-Virus, active spyware. It's a $50 annual subscription or online can be found for about half that. I fiddled with the bunch of freewares and probably installed/uninstalled or tried all of the more popular ones. Myself and the xp laptop are now believers in simple fully functional stuff... that you dont have to fiddle with; AVG Anti-Virus, Windows Defender anti-spyware & maybe not for everybody, the old Sygate Personal Firewall. Which you have to search for probably at download.com . It was bought by one of the biggies but the old freeware version is still popular and quite a decent firewall.
