I have an Dell 4700 desktop running XP Home SP 2 current with updates except for SP3; Pentium 4 CPU 2.89GHz; 1.5GB RAM; NVIDIA GeForce 6200 TurboCache graphics card. I'm using Corel VideoStudio Pro X2 and Pinnacle Studio Plus to edit DV cassettes. Both are very demanding... Pinnacle won't even complete a project. I need a more powerful pc...
My nephew wants me to get one with an Intel i7 processor and Vista Home Premium 64-bit. I wish I could skip Vista and buy one now with Windows 7! :)
Jumping from XP to 64-bit Vista seems a little "scary" to me. I suspect much of my older software won't work on 64-bit. Fortunately, Microsoft says Office 2003 is compatible... I hope to get a good buy over the weekend, but am uncertain about the 32-bit vs 64-bit. My primary use will be for video editing and using MS Office.
Do you have any suggestions???
Thank you.
