Texts, lies, and video editing

I'm noob, so please bear with me. My wife and I have been going through a rough patch for a while now. No big fights, but no passion either. I decided last month to make a lifestyle change. Dedicated myself to fitness and activity rather than beer and tv. All is going great so far. My wife has been on a health kick since the start of the year and continually encouraged me to get healthy with her. Took me a while, but I had to get there myself. Here is the issue. My wife is a flirt and I know this and I am reasonably able to cope with it until recently. New guy starts at her company in a position of power. I hear a lot about him for a couple of months from her, then in the last month absolutely nothing. Needless to say this peaks my interest as we do talk daily and at length about or jobs (same industry). She changed the passcode on her phone and told me did so without giving me the new code, then when my phone was unavailable and I needed to use her phone she did not tell me the code, but unlocked the phone and very quickly looked at something then handed it to me. Issue #1 is this normal to lock your SO out of your phone? It really makes me wonder. That is how we get to issue #2. I tell her I am concerned one night that she is too friendly with her coworker and she tells me I am crazy. I ask if I can look at her phone and get the "why are you so, jealous speech". I ask before I have her phone if she had texted this guy today. 3 times her answer is no. I then look at the phone and no texts that day from this guy. I then ask her 4 times if she would delete texts from this guy. 4 times no. It isn't until I tell her I need to be sure that is the truth and will be checking online to verify that fact that she admits she had contacted him and deleted the texts. 100 texts to be exact 50 each way that very evening. She claims she deleted and then lied because I would make a big deal about it. I told her the lying and coverup are far worse as now I can't trust her and have only my imagination as to the context of the conversation. I told her that I need time to rebuild trust and suggested counseling, but have yet to set an appointment. I also told her that for the time we are rebuilding the trust I would need access to her phone and she told me okay, grudgingly, but that she feels SOs should have their own space. Do you guys and gals agree with her? Anyone else restricted access from SOs phone? Am I right to be concerned that 100 texts in a night to a coworker is too much? Thanks for your time. Wow....serious flashbacks!

Dude I was exactly where you were 8 years ago...literally I could have wrote that paragraph, with a few details changed. By the time I got to where you are, and started being suspicious, she had in fact been having an affair for 9 months....shows you how perceptive I am I guess... When I finally confronted her with proof (more than just txt records, I had phone records and a call to the reservations desk of a local motel on a day I took the kids to a ballgame), she finally came clean...well sort of, she still lied about lots of sh*t during the process of trying to fix the marriage.

For me, it didn't work out well...we worked on things for 3 yrs (I did anyway, I realized later her heart was not in it and she was just buying time), until she did it again and I pulled the plug on things. Now I am happily divorced, dating someone and raising my kids with 50/50 custody...life goes on, no matter what happens it will probably be for the best.

But, to answer your question, yes she's totally playing you the fool. While spouses absolutely need some privacy, she's clearly just using this issue to deflect her obvious indiscretions. You need to sit her down and have a serious, serious talk to her. Not sure if you have kids or not, but she needs to understand that what she is doing is just wrong, and she needs to look at her self in the mirror and figure out if she wants to be in the marriage or not, because right now, you have nothing.

And take it from someone who made a lot of mistakes in the process of trying to rebuild the trust....DO NOT make it about checking up on her, having access to her phone and email accounts, etc. Trust me on this...that will push her away further!! You need to try and re-connect with her, if you can, the trust will return, if you can't, then you end the marriage....it's really that simple.

Be prepared for some real sh*tty days my friend, the voyage you are about to take is not fun. I wish you a better outcome than I had.

100 texts in a night is a lot. I was in a relationship once and almost started getting into an emotional affair with a woman at my office. One night I sent her approx 100 texts. I later realized this was not cool and cut her off. I've been on 4 dates with someone recently and I only have 80 texts in my phone since last week. What does that tell you?

You should be able to upgrade Adblock Plus w/o upgrading all of FF. Worth a try. lower risk of any problems and very quick to see. Best to close FF and re-open just in case afterwards. A new Adblock+Easylist may fix your intellinks. hard to say for sure. I didn't use FIreshot that time for the screenshot. sometimes I do. I discovered a cool feature of Picasa 3 (desktop app). If Picasa3 is open while I do Alt-PrintScreen, it automagically captures it to a "Screen Captures" folder with a little systray popup that says "screenshot captured. click here to view". Then I save as a JPG and FireFTP it to my webspace. Its a little faster than FireShot. FireShot has other features though that Picasa does not have. choices, choices, choices... I never have uninstalled the old browser. See if you can Update FF right from inside FF under Help/Update. Thats generally preferred method. If not, you can just download the latest from FF and run it. It should take care of putting it in a new place and give you a new shortcut to get to it. There may be Apple/Windows diffs here that I am not aware of, so YMMV. The "profile" is just a collection of files in a special place about things you have done to customize your usage of the browser. If you get a new FF version, the new browser looks at your old profile so it sets it up the same as you had it. (as best it can LOL) Its in a different place than the browser. If you can find your bookmarks.html file just copy it somewhere else for safekeeping. But this should not be necessaryy. It will probably be fine.

I have recently found a few other really cool apps that do the same type thing, some also do video capture and voice. check these out. [www.jingproject.com] and more info about Jing Screencasting Gets Easier With New Screen Capture And Dektop Recording Tool: Jing Project (for Jing if you are are wanting the system tray option for launching instead of the yellow button - you have it. Just turn off the show launcher option in preferences and click the jing icon in the system tray for the capture, history, more and exit options.) a bit more about Jing Jing - a new the main thing to consider about Jing is that it is a beta project, and that it is tied to a screencast.com account which they do provide to you for free for a time, you can purchase more space on screencast should you need it. And it does require .Net which most windows pcs have. Next is utipu utipu which is pretty cool. You install a little video capture camera that is very easy to use. Watch the tutorial videos on the site to learn more. You can record voice to this one also, plus it is very easy to share. For the Mac users this one is awesome and I really wish they had a windows and linux version. Skitch Jing also has a Mac version.

You want spoiled....read this. Our department provides laptops for our students to borrow for a week at a time. They come with a wireless mouse and a flashdrive. I have a student who borrowed the laptop and left the flashdrive in the library. The library called to let me know and I retrieved it. She came in and didn't apologize for losing it. Well, I let her borrow the laptop for another week and she again left the flashdrive in our computer lab. But this time some one walked off with it. She called and told me the day before the laptop was due back. I told her she would have to pay for the flashdrive and replace it. After being quite snotty (again with no apologies) she replaced the flashdrive. I then told her that her privilages were suspended for a month and she again got snotty. My boss finally told her that borrowing a laptop was a PRIVILAGE and not a RIGHT! My point is that she didn't care that she lost the flashdrive twice and she feels she is entitled to borrow the laptop. SamKaren your resident DJ

I've been reading this but hadn't posting because I don't really have any advice to offer (having our own unresolved behavioral issues). We found out last year that SS's teacher (in complete disregard of published school rules) was rewarding the class with candy if they'd behaved decently. We were not happy. I have no idea why the kids weren't just expected to behave in school (this was second grade at that time) or why the teacher felt bribery was in order for what should just be a normal requirement, but that's what she did. We briefly talked about asking her to not give SS candy, but that didn't seem fair because he's always been well-behaved in school, so not only would he have been singled out but he'd miss out as well. The problem, of course, is that the teacher instilled the belief that sweets are a reward for doing something that they should have already been doing anyway. To compound the problem, DH was rewarding SS with dessert (pudding or applesauce) but only if he ate his dinner - normal enough, but over my protestations because I could see the writing on the wall on this one. DH kept saying that it was fine because SS was so thin (he still is) - I kept saying very bad idea because he especially needs healthy food and not empty calories. And that's where we are - now SS expects sweets at both lunchtime and dinner, and feels cheated if he doesn't get them. He's not yet been sneaking them (he did once, two years ago) but I wouldn't be surprised if it comes to that - because he's now becoming accustomed to getting at least one sweet on a daily basis. If/when that time comes, I'm putting my foot down and completely banning all sweets from this house until we're all sugar-detoxed! It's appalling to me. When SS hardly ever normally was given sweets, he'd hardly ever choose to eat them - we'd always end up throwing out candy from Halloween and Easter. But after his school, of all places, acted like it was normal to eat candy every day, SS has not surprisingly been asking for a lot more sugar products. And we wonder why kids are obese and diabetic at age six now....

100 texts is a full on conversation. What could she possibly have to say to a mere co-worker that couldn't wait until work the next day?
I agree with mkroopy, you need to have a very serious talk with your wife. If she's not happy, she either needs to articulate to you what she's unhappy about so you can work on fixing it, or make a clean break and move on.
Yes, SOs should have their own space, and my DH and I have our own phones and emails and as a rule don't look at each other's, but we also both know that if we did there would be nothing untoward on them either.
