I'm fine! I'm fine! That tornado struck a neighborhood close by but we're ok. I'm sorry you were all worried. I think/hope the worst is over with now. Schools are being reopened tomorrow. We have power, everything is ok.

In fact, I just took a Cuban Pork Roast out of the oven and made white rice and black beans to go with it.

Stupid storm won't keep ME from cooking, now will it? Unless we lose power, but then we have a generator ... Ha!

Whew... I'd like some of that dinner, though.

Hi Everyone, checking in and so relieved to hear that you're ok Shaun! Cathy, I was worried you were going to get the worst of it in Tampa until this A.M., when we realized it had spared Sarasota/Tampa and was heading toward the east coast. Dam* storm is actually getting stronger as it approaches the coast of Brevard County, which is a bit worrisome. I'm in coastal southern Brevard county, where most of the tornado activity has been this afternoon. We live across the street from the beach, and it has been unbelievably blustery, with squalls and several inches of rain just sitting and dumping on us. Some have electrical power in my neck of the woods (like me:-), and some don't. The boys had no school today, and Brevard County schools are closed tomorrow as well. No one knows for sure where this storm is going next, but the whole state is on alert for now. Bobby and Kathy (gardengrl) are in the Orlando area, which is starting to get some real bad rain and wind. I hope they are both OK too. Pat T is in the panhandle, and I pray she'll check in. Thanks everyone for keeping track of us Floridians:-) Now send some good forum vibes to TS Fay and make her leave everyone alone!!!

So glad to hear everyone (so far) in FL is allright. It sounds pretty awful from the reports we've heard.

It's barely sprinkling here and it really hasn't done more than that all day! I'm actually disappointed... I didn't want damage, or people to get hurt, but I was hoping for a little more activity. My neighbor convinced me to stock up on canned soups and bottled water "just in case". I got 12 bottles of water and about 10 jars of canned goods... some chili, Chef-boy-r-d, and canned soups. I guess I can force them down when I'm too tired to cook, or just keep them till next big storm!

I think the media blew this out of proportion! I guess it was good to be prepared for the worst.

Now the recipe for a cuban pork roast please.....enjoy the rain, I know some of you need it badly.

Cuban Pork Roast

1 Pork Shoulder Picnic
1 pkt Sazon Seasoning
1 tsp each:
oregano
garlic powder
paprika
black pepper
seasoned salt
Adobo Seasoning

Mix all seasonings. Make slits all over roast, spoon spice mixture into all slits. Let marinate overnight.

Put roast into baking pan, cover very well with foil. Roast at 300° 5 hours.

I'm glad you showed that storm who was boss and so glad you are okay!

Steve and I are fine, just a bunch of wind and rain. We're "hunkered down". :-)

We've been remodeling our bathrooms for the past 2 weeks, so we're a little glad for the break.

Donna, I'm just up the beach from you, just north of New Smyrna Beach. We're blowing but not much rain. My heart aches for people in Brevard who are suffering with more than 25" of rain! At least Fay is starting to move!

Kathy, glad to hear you two are doing okay...leave it to me to forget someone. I just saw all the continued flooding on the news and Fay is finally on the move again.

Donna's county is what they featured tonight. Donna, you still doing okay?? I guess Pat will be dealing with it next and maybe Cathy in Tampa too now that it's on the move. I sure hope all y'all are doing okay. What a storm!

Thanks for keeping track of us David - what a week! You can not BELIEVE how much water is surrounding my house. The parking lot and soccer fields at the boys' school 5 miles north of us (which has been closed all week), are under water. Miraculously, my neighborhood is one that did not lose power. Southern coastal Brevard county took the brunt on Tuesday and Wednesday, then it was northern Brevard county's turn on Thursday and today. Thankfully, the storm has finally moved inland (strike #3 on Florida) and is taking its wind and rain with it. I pray that it will dissipate before reaching the north Gulf coast or panhandle. Enough is enough. This one is really making me think that I've had more than my fill of Florida at this point in my life.

Cathy and Pat, tell us what's going on and please stay safe! Kathy and Bobby, did you see any more wind and rain once TS Fay moved inland?

Donna, glad to read that you are ok and just damp and not soaked out yet. And I can beleive how much water is around your house. When your koi and goldfish are swimming down the street, and neighbors bring them home to you, you have way too much rain. BTDT, as they say.

We (in Tampa) lost power. Fortunately it was only for half the day. As I was stressing about it, I had to stop whining and say "wait a minute, think about how good (fabulous in fact) we have it compared to so many others."

So, we are doing great!

Donna, I did see a little more rain when Fay moved inland. It wasn't anything dramatic though. Not much wind at all! My ex lives in Melbourne, but sadly his house didn't flood :o( Glad yours didn't!

How weird that the storm left, and then kind of came back. Well, I guess it never really left. It's been dreary all week!

I never lost power, but I was too tired to cook last night and tried to use up some of the canned goods I bought in anticipation of the storm. I tried the Campbell's steak chili... took one bite and threw it away, it was awful. I'll stick to the old stand by (alphabet soup) from now on!

Are we FAYtigued yet? Tornadoes hit Lake Wales this afternoon.

I am pleased to announce that Tropical Storm Fay has dissipated - FINALLY!!!! I hope she brought much needed rain (no flooding!) to drought stricken areas in Georgia and Alabama. Some good should come from all the havoc she delivered all week.

Oh no Cathy, I'm sorry to hear that. Do we have any forum friends in or near Lake Wales?
