Good showerhead for thick hair

We are building a house we need to pick out our faucets/hardware. My kids currently take a shower in the master because their showerheads are useless. My oldest complains that water is completely void in the center and it takes forever to rinse out her hair. Current showerheads are Moen's.

I understand when selecting a shower head to keep in mind that the rate of flow is nearly equal through all shower heads (2.5gpm). If you have a large shower head with a large number of large holes you get a gentle rain spray effect. Reduce the size of the holes and the velocity of flow must increase through the holes to compensate and still maintain the same rate of flow.

Great, so anyone have a showerhead that they love? I don't want the rain effect... need something that's strong and concentrated and going to rinse out thick hair relatively fast. Good brands?

I found this review that has videos of different water saving shower heads. I have thick hair and it works great for me. I loved that the price allowed me to try the sohwer head, and if we didn't like it we could always try another. The rest of our fixutres are hansgrohe and this shower head does not looks cheap.

If you concentrate on _brands_, you may be misled. The major makers all make several lines of showerheads, often marketed through disparate channels. At a given price/quality point, you are likely to find more similarities across brands than you will find among different models within any given brand.

The best showerhead that we have encountered is the Moen Velocity 6320. We bought ours after doing a lot of research, and it delivered, an order of magnitude better than any other showerhead we have tried (and we have tried several in that same shower). It is a Moen, and you will find Moen branded showerheads in big-box stores and Target. The Velocity 6320 is different from (and better than) those Moens.

You will find a representative smattering of reviews of the Moen Velocity 6320 at the linked URL. (Take with a handful of salt the review by "Professor Ignat," which smacks of a -sponsored?- sales pitch for a competing product.)

True. But a large number of size-restricted holes can give the best of both worlds. The Moen Velocity 6320 seems to have hit the sweet spot.

We have the speakman anystream 6 jet showerhead currently and am planning to put the 8 jet in the new shower. Our water pressure isn't stellar but you get a really nice shower out of this one, and if you get the slightly higher priced one than what they sell at HD, they look pretty nice too. We did not pull the flow control washer out when we installed it either as many have suggested you do for a REALLY hard shower. I'm linking the one we have but we paid about $50 for it. They also make it in a bunch of other finishes so you should be able to coordinate with almost anything in your bathroom. Hair products to smooth frizzy, gray hair

I have always had coarse/frizzy, and very thick, hair which is not the same as curly/frizzy hair. The best way for me to tame it is to blow it completely dry. That works mostly fine in the winter, but in summer/humid weather, I need to use product. For my hair, Straight Works by Paul Mitchell gives me the smooth shine. It‘s put on while hair is damp and then blown dry. I’m only 52 but have a lot of gray and my hair grows very fast which means coloring my roots every four weeks. I have no desire at my age, especially since I still have kids at home, to go gray, even though it’s becoming more trendy. I’ve noticed that as I get closer to time for coloring, the texture of my hair gets coarser, so I have started using Straight Works more often in the winter. My daughter, who also has very thick, coarse hair that is also curly/wavy sometimes uses It‘s a 10 that has been mentioned above.

I also have frizzy hair. I'd like to try keratin, but I don't think I understand how it works. I'll have to research. When I was in my 20s, I used to comb Toni home perm solution through my hair in the shower. It would come out straight without the frizziness and it also bleached my mousy brown hair so it appeared sunkissed. I only did it once every couple of years because it was so hard on my hair, but man did it look good when I did. Well, you all convinced me and I just cut a couple of inches off the bottom to get back to shoulder length. I'd been growing it out over the summer, I did love being able to pull it back into a loose messy bun, but this is overall a better look for me. I can still get it into a pony tail, so still have some options. On the subject of going short, for me, I try to remember to go slow. I often think I want really short, but sometimes just a couple of inches is enough of a change. If it's not, then I go shorter. I once went from really long to a pixie cut. Big mistake.

We have had the best luck with Oxygenics brand shower heads. I needed something when I had waist length hair coupled with our low water pressure.

They have quite a few models with a wide price range. We use one of the hand-helds.

They are a popular brand among people with RVs since you can't use much water when you shower and need to make the most of it. (Small water heater, limited grey water tank size.)

I also have long, thick hair and the only way I can get shampoo completely out of my hair is to rinse it with a shower head that you can remove from the mount and hold up to your scalp. I just couldn't do a good shower without it! Also makes cleaning the shower a breeze!
