Yahoo mail page jumping up and down

Yahoo email is a secondary email for me which I use for online ordering etc. The last week or so, the page jumps up and down about an inch continuously as I try to read my email. It's driving me crazy. I'm not having this problem anywhere else.

It seems to be related to something called "Trending" at the top of the page. Below the word "trending", some celebrity name appears, disappears, and another appears. How do I turn this ridiculous thing off? Thanks.

I'm not having that problem. What browser are you using? I use Firefox with a pop-up blocker and that prevents a lot of that crap.

I have that trouble with GW site, most regularly, and no others, so understand your pain. I don't know what to do, and just live with it for now, sometimes, it's not so bad, like today, but other days, it drives me nuts!!!!!!!!

Ok I did not know about that. I tried it but it wants me to log in with my yahoo address and I have a different address registered with that site as I just send any large files right from the site. It's still the same if you use the email feature, you need to zip the whole folder first then navigate to the zipped folder and attach unless you want to click on each file one by one to attach. It's always been like that with that site as far as I know. To me it's no different sending from the site or sending from yahoo. Frankly I can't stand yahoo mail or online mail for that matter and use a mail program then yousend it separate if I need to send a large file. Mary

Or maybe you don't access your account as often and just missed the window of downtime. Its problems are way more often this last week than other times. It's acting up right now. Try the link I have farther up the thread, and you'll see how large a chunk of time it's been misbehaving today. It's a moving graph so it won't show you Monday, for instance. not right this moment for me, but it was earlier and it absolutely was on Monday. Or maybe I only hit it when it wasn't working. Either way, I think you're dismissing things you shouldn't dismiss. Yahoo is having trouble right now. It'd be nice if it worked every time one opened their mail. Which is what one would expect from a mail provider. I've been with them for a very long time. It's my only email provider outside of work. I won't change. But to say it's smooth sailing, what's wrong with you? just shows you're either A) lucky, B) don't access it as often as others, or C) are oblivious(?).

I get those too. It gives me a choice of confirm or cancel, and since there is a possibility that there could be something I wouldn't want to know, I cancel. Some of these are from people I don't even know. I don't know why Yahoo thinks this is a good thing. Sue

I too have been running unto minor issues when I use my Yahoo email service and Yahoo website in the past week or 2. I do have another email account and that one is stable; so is the rest of my computer. For sure something is going on with Yahoo/AT&T. About a month ago, Yahoo, Gmail, AOL, Hotmail and some other email services got hacked into. I'm guessing that Yahoo/AT&T is trying to resolve this problem which is resulting in unstableness of their programs, websites, email, etc.. By the way, you can check whether your Yahoo email account got hacked by checking at Yahoo's website below. If yur did, you'd need to change your password or contact Yahoo for instruction. if you would use firefox browser with the ad block plus add on and the easylist subscription for it you will not see those ads. If you want it let us know and we can direct you to it.
If you do not have at least 2 browsers on your pc you really should add another one like firefox because if your Ie were to fail you would have no way to get to websites.

This might be starting to sound like an old song, but is your Java, Shockwave Player and Flash Player current? I regularly ask this as it seems too often I have dealt with systems that users express browser concerns, and I find that sometimes this software is original or near original. The upgrade to the current versions is not always the answer, but it is extremely beneficial in the long run regardless.

Thanks for the replies. Java is up to date and I don't have Shockwave Player or Flash Player. I have something called Real Player--will check for updates. I have no problem with media, tho.

I've never had a problem with IE--didn't know that could happen.

This only happens with Yahoo email--nothing else. Will look into the Firefox. Thanks again.

Real Player is something completely different than the two I mentioned. RP is an audio media player while the others are add-on/plug-ins for viewing animations and movies on web pages.

Ginny more than likely you would have Flash Player if you can watch things move like web movies. You can go here to see if it is or check your version.

Thanks for that link, Shboom. I clicked and I have WIN 10, 1, 53, 64 and it was last updated April 28, 2010. Odd that when I look in "all programs" on my Start menu, Flash Player does not show, even under Adobe. Adobe says "empty".

It is not a stand alone application, it is a browser add on/plug in.

Do give Firefox a try. It's easy to use, has more capabilities than IE, and there is a way to quickly transfer all of your bookmarks to it. If you download it and install it, we can explain how to add in the ad blocking feature.

when you install firefox it will ask you in the process if you want to put all your IE faves and settings into firefox just say yes and it will match everything you have in IE, IE will not be affected at all.
