I am amused to hear there is house envy extended both ways. :P It reminds me of when Mitzi joined us. We were all jealous of all the native flora of Brazil and she said she wished she could grow Tulips. @ Ingrid I am enjoying looking through your blog very much. How fun that you got your cuttings of Mathilde from Emilio Begine himself! I love your photographs, too, especially the ones of the swing flower garden and the shaggy pony by the shore. I think you live in a wonderful place! I am looking forward to reading more - but must work now. :P @ Mitzi I agree with you. I tell people to think of my plants like having another pet. There is a lot of work involved, but it gives you a peaceful feeling to care for them and interact with them.

And not frozen broccoli. We tried that with no success. When thawed in the trap it quickly becomes an unappetizing mush. Fresh broccoli is the most recommended woodchuck/groundhog bait. But woodchucks eat a wide variety of things, as was evidenced by the devastation a family of them did in our garden. We caught one with a slice of watermelon in our HavaHart trap. There are two schools of thought about "having a heart" and hauling the animal some distance away and releasing it. If you do that you are, in effect, dumping your problem on somebody else. Even if you re-locate the woodchuck to a farmer's field, it can dig deep holes and cause serious problems for the farmer. In some states it is against the law to dump an animal on somebody else. Of course, live traps are a good idea. If you trap a neighbor's cat or dog you want to have the option of releasing it unharmed. MM

minet - You are correct. Regular Notaries are only allowed to charge $10 per signature. DH was doing the Loan Doc Signings. Since you lved in OC, you're somewhat familiar with the area. DH covered a wide area - parts of north OC, parts of LA county, all the Inland Empire, Parts of Riverside and San Brdo. Counties. He also made occasional trips to the Victor Valley-(High Desert) and Big Bear. It was a lot of driving! Advertising popped up everywhere "Make Big Money - Become a Notary Public!" What happened to that retired guy you knew is also what happened to DH - they were finding people who would do it cheaper. I don't know how anyone made money doing signings for only $50.00. The only way is if one had a few per day and close together - like, in their own neighborhood! Plus, like I mentioned, more and more companies were requiring the Notary to print out the Loan Docs on their own - which took a lot more time and cost. OH, and another thing this one company did...they would just put the assignments up on computer - leaving it "up for grabs" for anyone. So, DH had to sit at computer all day long everyday and refresh every couple of minutes to see if something "popped up". (If he was out on a signing, he'd miss out on any new assignments) It got to the point it wasn't worth it anymore. ----------------- runninginplace - Yes, we are not married. Been together for over 20 years. I refer to him as "hubby" most times. "Significant Other" or "boyfriend" or "life partner" just sound odd to me. I sometimes refer to him as my housemate also. "Hubby" is just easy. Someone in a previous post mentioned my 1/2 should be protected. Not sure what that means...should I get out the chainsaw and cut the house in half? haha j/k! ------------ "DH" saw the attorney. (hubby also was able to get most of the file on this specific trx from the lender) Attorney told him to just keep all the info for now, but to NOT respond to the letters...and just wait to see if anything happens. DH hasn't heard anything since. I don't know what the statute of limitations would be on something like this. (Maybe the other guy's attorney told him he didn't have a case? I donno) -------------- And, yes, I was too busy to read the letter when he first presented it to me. DH had already told me most of the highlights in the letter. By the time I was mentally prepared & calm enough to read the letter, it was gone. He had taken it to attorney. Everyone has their own ways of dealing with things. I guess my way is different.

Hi all, Thanks for the replies. In answer to some of the points raised: I have no interest in trying to get any money back. I'm really just concerned about this threat of his. In principle, (and I'm a pretty highly principled person), I want to exercise my right to post a truthful review. The review that is up now is the replacement of my original post. I tried to keep it simple, and to reflect that this is "my opinion" because the legal implications for defamation seem to hinge on this. It's okay to present information as your opinion, but not as fact. Presenting facts is where you can get into trouble because the truthfulness of those can be debated in court. So it's okay to say, "This was the worst book I've ever read." But it isn't okay to say, "This author stole whole passages from another author," unless you want to defend that statement in court. I live in Texas and the state IS suffering from a drought. Many lakes are very affected, some not at all, which is why I had an extensive phone conversation with him prior to making arrangements. He assured me the lake level was fantastic and we wouldn't have any issues (I guess the fact that the boat dock stood on dry land escaped his memory). One of our favorite lakes, LBJ, is dam controlled so that hasn't been affected by the drought. Another beautiful lake, Lake Travis, is at least 70 FEET below normal, and means many lakefront homes are no longer lakefront, but there are many public boat docks where you can easily launch a boat --which in fact is what we did when we left this guy's place early to salvage our 4th of July holiday. The property owner HAS seen the new review, and still wants me to remove it. I haven't bothered to respond to his last email, and don't intend to. Thanks for pointing out this man's bullying behavior. Somehow that hadn't registered with me, but as soon as I read it here it resonated. I'm going to just sit tight right now and relax a bit. I truly don't want to have to spend money defending this, but I'm leaving the review up. Thanks to forboystoo for finding my original post, which I'll keep in my file just in case. Linda, my wedding outfit was Columbia Sportswear top and skort (shorts under a skirt - high tech material too!), and flip flops by Roxy. Very chic! I was wearing a real cowboy hat from Reno too, along with that popular country cologne, Eau de OFF. LOL!

I just love the outfit, I think it's perfect. I got talked into a dress and heels, but my "wedding" wasn't much bigger, LOL, and I didn't have the "redneck limo", so you've outdone me there.

Thanks everyone. Annie, I bought a dress but decided against it. I'm glad I did. Karen it's been 19 years but we've known each other about 24. Beverly, you are so sweet. Email resolution is a good photo resolution for fuzzing out wrinkles!

We had the trip and wedding planned for a couple of months. We've been calling ourselves Husband and Wife for awhile now, I mean what else can you call it that doesn't sound downright silly?

The Silverado was full of fishing gear. I didn't fish, and luckily, since noone caught anything big enough, I didn't have to clean or cook any fish either. I pissed off some cows by playing the thumb kazoo though.

Brenda, this year the folks in Austin are coming to visit ME in September, so I probably won't be doing a TX trip for awhile :-(

I'll upload some other pix later - of hiking and the mountains, lakes, etc.

We also celebrated the anniversary of the couple on the far right of the lunch photo. We had a wonderful dinner on their 15th. We are going to see Fiddler on the Roof with them on Saturday. He is undergoing cancer treatment so he is trying to spend more time with friends and enjoying life.

Your guest list beat me by quite a few. Excluded parents and children, we had 2 guests. We were married in our own living room, DH threw out his back moving furniture and was in pain, we had pizza delivered after the ceremony and split in our Chevy Barretta, leaving the mess to both moms! Hee hee.

I didn't realize that your husband had relatives in Austin, but if you had been living in Texas, there would have been no need for a wedding, since you would have been legally married there many years ago, thanks to their "common law marriage" law.

Congrats on your ceremony! It looks lovely, and it also looks like you both had a good time. I love weddings!!

We had too many things going on, including long, hot, dusty hikes that would have been too much for the little guy.
