This is strange...not a problem (I don't think)...

but strange just the same and I was wondering about it. I have a shortcut to Google on my desktop and sometimes it shows an upper case "G" and sometimes it shows a lower case "g"....I thought when you put a shortcut on the desktop, it wouldn't change in appearance...today it is uppercase.

google just recently changed their logo and icon to the lower case g. But in some places the original upper case G is still in use. I have been seeing both also.

They have been saying it may not be their final choice and I have to say I hope they do not keep the lower case g, they had a great brand recognizable icon with the upper case G, why mess with it? It was what everyone knew and recognized.

if you happen to have firefox there is a neat little add-on called favicon picker 2 that lets you pick the favicon of your choice and google is one of the ones you can choose. Here is the link to favicon picker

Plus you can save that capitol G icon to your pc and then by using the change icon option put that capitol G in place as the icon for Google on your pc. Just do a regular google search, when the search is returned go to the bottom of the page where the Gooooooogle is displayed, right click on the G and save as to your pc, you now have the capitol G to use as your icon. Here are the directions on how to do that if you need them.

Go to the Google home page, and enter any old search criteria,
providing it'll return more than one page of results.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page, and right-click on the "G" of
"Gooooooooooogle". A menu will pop up; from here follow the
instructions relevant to your version of Windows.

Windows XP: click on "Save picture as", and select "Bitmap" as the
file type, give it a sensible name (such as "Google G") and save it
somewhere safe -- C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\ is probably as good a place as
any.

Windows 9x/Me/NT/2000: click on "Copy". Open Paint
(Start/Accessories/Paint), set the image size to 1x1 pixels (it's in
"Image properties" or somewhere -- I don't have 9x installed anywhere
any more so I can't check, sorry!) Now select Edit/Paste; Paint will
ask you if you want the image enlarged -- click "Yes". Now select
File/Save, and save the picture as a bitmap somewhere safe -- see the
XP instructions above.

All versions: once the "G" is saved somewhere, right click on the
shortcut icon. Click on "Change icon..." and type the path and
filename you saved the "G" as, for example "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\Google
G.bmp". Click "Ok" then "Ok" again, and that's it!

Now right-click on the shortcut on your desktop, then click on "Change
icon..." Click "Browse"

IF you are a firefox user and use greasemonkey they have a script for it.

Yes, this was definitely a honeybee swarm. One of the reasons why I wanted a beekeeper to remove the swarm to a place of safety was so that they didn't make their permanent home in my attic or something. I wouldn't want to have to tear down walls to get to them. Even before The Swarm, I saw plenty of bees around, so I assume that there was a hive in the neighborhood. I read somewhere online that they usually don't travel much beyond a kilometer, so hopefully the new hive is not too far away and they remember the nice yard with the peach tree. :-) When I was out there last, after the swarm had left, I saw the occasional bee fly around the area where it had been, going "where did everybody go?"

I was once in Israel's great southern desert, the Negev, traveling by car with a girlfriend, and we had to go. So we stopped the car and hiked behind a tiny hill with a tiny bush on it. An oncoming truck squealed to a stop and the driver got out, carrying a rifle. He screamed at us "You crazy women, don't you know that there are Bedouin men around here? Next time, hold it in!" Then he stood there with his rifle until we finished, adjusted ourselves, and slinked back to our car embarrassed as heck.

This is a very tough situation to be in. It is very disturbing to hear of the sexual abuse and the dead puppy. If I were you I'd be very concerned this boy doesnt have alot of contact with your young daughter. Unfortunately many abused victims do in turn become "abusers". Seeing as though you have tried counseling and everything and nothing is getting better,I can understand how you feel about wanting him in foster care. Can I ask...did it come out in counseling that his mom sexually abused him? If so,then have charges been pressed against her? It sounds as though she has had alot of men around too,and any of them could have abused the boy also. Of course your husband may blame himself.He feels he should have protected the boy from this ever happening. Still,my number one priority at this point would be making sure this does not happen to your daughter. You never said how old the boy is? I also do not see how DFS can tell you that you cant spank your kid. As far as I know spanking is not illegal. I'm so sorry that being a stepmom has turned out this way for you. I think for our own biological kids to do things like this is bad enough,but when step kids do it we feel more powerless in the situation. Is there a grand parent,or a aunt or uncle the boy could stay with? One that maybe does not have children who wouldnt mind being a sort of MENTOR? Hopefully you will get some more great advice from others in the forum. I can mainly only offer my sympathy...

The aircraft, whether new or aged (I prefer not to use the word "decrepit") must have detailed, rigorous testing rather frequently. Ditto the pilots. If either doesn't pass - they don't fly! As Monica said - you're in greater danger per passenger-mile on the road to the airport than on the aircraft ... not to mention travelling by bus/train - certainly by car - across half a dozen states! It's mainly that travel by car is a routine activity, but travel by air is not. But who ever suggested that we humans operate most of our lives in a rational fashion?! Also, I hope that the young one who refuses to fly will get some treatment to alleviate the fears enough to allow him/her to agree to use that means of travel ... to not tolerate it will have negative consequences in later life. And the longer treatment is delayed, the more difficult it becomes, as we get more set in our ways (imagine how tough it becomes as one approaches post-retirement!). Plane crashes are more "glamorous" - "spectacular" ... ... than dying in bed. But a much higher proportion of the total population dies in bed ... which doesn't get pictured on TV. But which one of us refuses to lie on a bed? Enjoy whichever adventure of living is part of your life today - this is still God's world, and it's great (if you live in N. America - not so great if you live in Myanmar/Burma, parts of the Middle East including Iraq, Africa, India/Pakistan or Afghanistan). Being close to 80, I think - I'm sure - that I'd much prefer flying on an aircraft at whatever level of decrepitude to dealing with the examination to be offered by the Admissions Council to the Great Beyond that I expect to be my lot, as a heedless North American/European, after the portion of my life that's been lived on earth is completed. ole joyful
