@Liz Any cure would involve a complete demolition, loss of all currently installed materials, and starting from scratch, 100% on his dime. Tell him you'd also want to see all proper permits before the work started, and will be hiring a consultant to document code compliance throughout the rest of the project. That'll make him run. You may have to decide if it is worth your time to sue him to get your deposit back if he balks. Anything less than $20,000 is rarely worth fighting over unless you feel you can competently represent yourself without an attorney. If you do part ways, get it in writing. Don't leave it open for him to come back later with "he said vs we said." Document EVERYTHING. If he's licensed and insured that is good. He won't want his insurance to see a lawsuit that he'll clearly lose, so just the threat will probably solve your problems. But just to be clear: you do not want him to try and cure this. He has no idea what he is doing. Not a single product in that room is being used correctly.

I have Calacatta marble basket weave in my master bath (honed) and I have Carrara dog bone in my guest bath. This is both floor and shower floor. I absolutely love it and have been using it with no issues for over a year. My shower was built properly so there is proper slope so there is no water puddling anywhere. I also have a lifestyle that doesn't include washing dogs in my shower; dying my hair in my shower or cleaning off from my labors in a coal mine. I take reasonable precautions - e.g. I use shower gel instead of bar soap and I have products that are safe for ALL my surfaces. At the advice of Dragonfly, I bought MB Stone Cleaner which is also used for my mirrors and marble counter and a non-acidic toilet bowl cleaner from Majestic. Prior to my remodel I researched quite a bit and also asked friends with marble what it was like to live with marble. None of them had any problems or particular horror stories. They showed me a bit of etching (aka patina) but frankly it was hard to see unless the light was shining and I squinted. FWIW, honed is essentially etched which is why I opted for etched in the master which theoretically gets more use. I also went with honed for aesthetic reasons because it was softer looking. It's obviously a personal decision. When I was looking at various options in terms of counters and floors, I did look at the manmade stuff like Neolith, Dekton, quartz but they didn't appeal to me aesthetically as much as the "real thing". Other people could come to a different conclusion.

I actually have this tile saved as one of my options for the wall over my vanity behind my mirrors. Q - is there any natural light in your bathroom? If so, would you mind taking a photo during the day so I can see how the tile looks with natural light? I would really appreciate it. Also - and I apologize if this seems like a strange question - did you pick out the tile or did a female? I’m asking this question in order to prove a point with my significant other. I own my house (no mortgage) - so, when we decided to live together, I didn’t want to sell it and buy something else with a mortgage. However, I originally built this house with my ex-husband - so, I’m remodeling MANY rooms in order to make it “new” (even though my ex didn’t really give much input into the house when we built it - and I only shared this house with my ex for about 4 years - quite awhile ago). I am trying to be considerate by not making anything “too feminine” - this tile seems like a good choice for that. My significant other didn’t say that the tile is too feminine - but I‘m not exactly sure whether he believes that or not! I definitely don’t think it’s feminine - I think it’s an attractive option for my accent wall. His suggestions have been simply TOO BORING! I don’t want a sterile looking all gray/white/black bathroom. I do want to be considerate - but it still is my house so . . . LOL! One other Q - what did you choose for your vanity/wall paint/flooring? Thanks!
