Please Help me choose a door color (red if possible)
Comments (7)In the old, like old old, Sherwin Williams "Exterior Colors" fandeck you will find some of the BEST exterior reds - ever. Some SW stores still have the old-old interior and exterior decks laying around. Worth asking about....See MoreHelp me choose a nice RED paint color for my door?
Comments (8)Hi Diane, I love red front doors. To me they look so friendly and welcoming. Our house is a pale yellow with black shutters. I was afraid of going with a red that bordered on the orange, so went with a burgundy that was on the red/blue end. We liked it so much that we ended up painting the exterior French doors from the dining room, the laundry room French door, the wooden screen door and four garage doors on the detached garage. I’m afraid the front door picture was taken in the late afternoon with the sun partly on it, but you’ll get the idea. The paint has held up remarkably well, considering they were painted 18 years ago. We used Sherwin Williams “Burgandy” exterior latex paint in a semi-gloss. Best of luck in your endeavor....See MoreHelp me choose a paint color for my home.
Comments (39)Sorry, just cannot understand the all-out negative attitude on painted brick. Yes, certainly older (and some newer) brick is quite lovely and shouldn't be painted, but hasn't anyone seen the hideous beige/brown or pink/brown brick? Some brick just isn't pretty, people! Lots of houses, at least in the South, from the 60s and 70s had that yucky brick, and they can really be brought into the 21st century with paint. That said, Melanie's brick isn't ugly, but I do think painting it would make for a more cohesive and uniform facade....See MorePlease help me choose a color for my house
Comments (8)Thanks for all the suggestions. The roof is current. The reason for the color change is that the house was painted in a glossy-ish paint and the paint is just flat out peeling. It seems like it wasn’t prepped right, maybe? I love the warm white or cream colors. Would you do no trim or darker trim? Would a brown fascia look ok?...See Morethreeapples
