PRESENTING: Master Bath Remodel Reveal!
Comments (18)adh673 -- Thank you! The tile came from The Tile Shop. The main wall tile in the shower is Navona Travertine KB3301 (despite the name, it's actually a porcelain tile). We also used it on the floor of the bathroom and around the tub. It's a "rectified" tile so the tiler was able to give me the super thin grout lines I wanted. The shower floor is Jinshan Bone P/F 5 cm. The back of the niches is Jinshan Bone P/F 2 cm. The diamond pieces in the mural is Sandlewood Monterrey -- they're a "puffed" travertine tile with beveled edges. The border pieces framing the mural and the shower niches is Jinshan Bone/Sand Hon. The bullnose border pieces finishing the entire shower area is Jinshan Bone Pol. Our tiler used Technicolor grout by Tec for the entire shower area as it is stain, mold, and mildew resistant and never needs sealed. We used granite from our counters for the top of the shower curb and the shelves in the niches (those were cut to half thickness). Hope this is helpful!...See MoreMaster Bath Reveal
Comments (12)The slipper tub is surprisingly comfortable. I am not a huge bather but I have really come to enjoy soaking. Our prior tub was one of those cultured marble jetted things that took a million gallons of water to fill, just to get the level over your ankle and collected dust. Once our 3 kids were of the age 2 or 3 didn't bathe together, we stopped using it. With the clawfoot, once you get over how narrow they are compared to the CM gargantuan things, it takes less water to cover you. The DH liked the slipper look better than the traditional CF, and the only thing I don't like is you can't rest your elbows on the side. I need to get a tray that goes across to set my kindle/book on and my wine glass, so I don't have to keep leaning forward and reaching over the side to set something down/pick something up. Other than that, I LOVE it. We went with the composite volcanic limestone tub from V & A and the tub holds the temperature very, very well. Now, to go clean up and stage the boys bath we remodeled at the same time and post before and after. One more bath to go!...See MoreMaster Bath reveal with pics.
Comments (16)K Sissy - I don't have a lot of info on the door - my contractor took care of it for me. I do know I said "as frameless as possible". When they came to measure, I asked about the door. I was told it is a Euro door. I did have a coating put on it but I don't know what brand. I was given a choice of a 30" or 28" door. I went with a 28". It is fine and plenty big enough for entance and exit. It was custom made by Service Glass in Pointiac, Michigan. If you have any specific questions, I can ask my contractor for you....See MoreMaster Bath Reveal -- Contemporary Craftsman
Comments (13)dmpsd, thanks. The tile is Ann Sacks Pietra Calacatta porcelain tile in 15" x 30" size. I had planned to have the tile set randomly, but after opening the boxes, I realized that the tiles formed a pattern; I laid them out together like a jigsaw puzzle on my bedroom carpet and labeled them for the tile setter. I was missing some pieces of the puzzle, so needed to get creative. It may be possible to order the tiles numbered, but I had not considered it when I ordered them. The towers next to the sinks are 11.5-inches deep and 14" wide on the exterior; the interior size is 11 x 11". The towers on the makeup vanity are 11.5" deep and 16" wide on the exterior; the interior is 11" deep by 12.5" wide. I have had issues with the stain on the bottom of the towers running onto the countertop next to the sink; if I had known that would happen, I would have wrapped the bottom of the sink towers with Caesartone. Here are a couple more photos. The makeup vanity is at "desk" height (lower than the sink vanity) and is not as deep as the sink vanity (that is, shorter distance from edge of counter to mirror)....See Moreenduring
