Before and afters of Master Bath. Standard 20 year old builder grade to start with. Ended up doing a complete gut job. Not sure I would have gotten though this project without all the help and knowledge from all of you. Thank you so much for the guidance. (still need some accessories and window treatments, but weather and viruses have not cooperated) I went way over budget but..........Oh Well!

Great service and pricing...wonderfully run, family owned. Comments (44)Thanks again everyone. I just wanted to add that we definitely shared the "trepidation" some of you mentioned when we first contemplated renovating the spaces. I think in retrospect it was a good thing that the job of selling our previous house prevented us from moving into this home until a month before the demo began. I think if we had lived here for very long it would have been much harder to take on such a big remodel (and I can definitely relate to why the second owners chose to change nothing.) We couldn't have accomplished this without our fantastic GC and cabinetmaker. Our cabinetmaker took our original vision and made it so much better. It was he who designed the shape of the bar table to match the angle of kitchen counter and designed almost on the spot the boomerang shelves when we discovered that the fireplace stone didn't go all the way down to the counters. His company does custom work at very reasonable prices -- if you live in the Twin Cities area, I can recommend them highly. rhome410 -- below is the original floor plan. The home is a split level (the floor plan shows only the top floor of the split levels) The only structural changes we made were: 1) to eliminate the wall of cabinetry and shorten the half wall between the kitchen and dinette area; 2) lengthen the half bath by removing the doggy bath in the laundry area ellendi -- great idea! in fact, our home will be part of a home remodeling tour later this summer AngAx -- I agree that homes in WI are more standardized than we were used to (we are originally from the west coast.) However, after buying our home, we became more attuned to finding the MCM gems.... they are here and SO much more affordable than on the west coast. p.s. I love white kitchens too :) flyleft -- your enthusiasm cheered my DH up amazingly! (He is overall very happy with the move and renovations but at times laments the year of our life dedicated to it :) Re: the pottery on the boomerang shelves, the vintage cannisters were a gift from a dear friend in France. Comments (20)ah673 thank you for sending over your hall bath pics as well. I had to laugh when I saw the measurements on the mirror in the Before picture. I can relate! Trying to configure my tile chair rail with mirror, electrical plates and possible wall mount faucet is giving me a royal headache! I'm planning a similar set up with white subway tile 1/2 way up wall, quartzite countertop, but also adding in a decorative band just below trim tile. Is your hall bath vanity standard depth? Comments (12)The slipper tub is surprisingly comfortable. I am not a huge bather but I have really come to enjoy soaking. Our prior tub was one of those cultured marble jetted things that took a million gallons of water to fill, just to get the level over your ankle and collected dust. Once our 3 kids were of the age 2 or 3 didn't bathe together, we stopped using it. With the clawfoot, once you get over how narrow they are compared to the CM gargantuan things, it takes less water to cover you. The DH liked the slipper look better than the traditional CF, and the only thing I don't like is you can't rest your elbows on the side. I need to get a tray that goes across to set my kindle/book on and my wine glass, so I don't have to keep leaning forward and reaching over the side to set something down/pick something up. Other than that, I LOVE it. We went with the composite volcanic limestone tub from V & A and the tub holds the temperature very, very well. Now, to go clean up and stage the boys bath we remodeled at the same time and post before and after. One more bath to go!...See More
