Why would you want to remove any hidden files? In most cases those are hidden for a purpose - they do not want them deliberate;y or accidentally deleted. Perhaps the program will fail to function if those are removed.

Being sure the Firefox entries on the Applications tab are all checked, CCleaner should be all you need.

I agree with O. Files are hidden for a reason. To keep users like you and me out of them. They are too tempting when you open them. :)

Maybe I'm using the wrong terminology--is a cache the same thing? I'm trying to get rid of files that have been stored without my knowledge and that are for "cookie" purposes. I did this once before with instructions on a different forum to clear up some space, but have since lost the directions. The computer forum has a page entitled: "Cache Clean-Up and Cache Size" and this is what I was trying to follow.

In Firefox click 'Tools' in the menu bar, then click on 'Clear recent history'. This will give you the option to select whatever you want to clear.

As Witz says that will do it. However, ATF and CCleaner will give you a safe expanded way to remove unecessary files from your entire system not just your browser. Just use the applications at the default settings.
