Sorry, I always assume people read for content. The content of the following quote from my post to the Who's Here thread should lead you to believe that I've been gardening for some time. "We have about an acre that generally slopes down to the south (ranging from southwest slopes to south-southeast slopes in direction) that I am slowly (oh so slowly) trying to turn into a food basket (so to speak)." Slowly (oh so slowly) suggests that I have already been working on it and that it is taking a long time, thereby suggesting that I've been working on turning it into a food basket for some time, which means gardening and horticulture (or more appropriately permaculture) experience. "Currently we have raised bed gardens to the tune of 100+ square feet, as well as currants, strawberries, gooseberries, blueberries, hazelnuts (new last year), nanking cherries (new last year), black walnuts (new last year), butternuts (new last year), and roses (for the rose hips). " If I've already got 100+ square feet of raised bed garden that would tell you at least one year gardening experience, the list of berries and nuts, specifying some this year (meaning I put them in last spring, that may have legitimately been misinterpreted to mean I was putting them in 2010 except I followed with a list of items to go in in 2010) would tell you I'd been doing those for at least two years. Sorry for not just saying I've been gardening this location for the past five years and gardening in general (on and off) since I was four years old and helped my mom in hers. I assumed that the list would let you know I have at least several years gardening experience in my current location. Regarding everyone trying to be helpful. I ask for specifics in finding things in the Denver area and someone replies (from the WA/ID area) with: "I have an idea of where you can go" followed by no other information or personal message, what do you think I'm supposed to think? I think I'm being told to go to he**. You interpret that in some other manner? Thralen

Webby, thanks for the info. I looked into it, but what I was mentioning before was about the pop ups. What the opt out does, I think after my first sift thru session, is allow you reject any news, advertising emails, etc. that results from the personal information that was gathered when you register. I want to know how to turn off all cookies from this site. They are very slick in positioning them on the screen so that when you want to click on a forum, the pop up is activated, using up resources and your sound. I read under the Cookies explanation on the link you gave that says: "Our site uses a feature of your browser to set a "cookie" on your computer. Cookies are small packets of information that a site's computer stores on your computer. The iVillage Network can then read the cookies whenever you visit the iVillage websites. We use cookies to save your password so you don't have to re-enter it each time you visit our site, TO DELIVER CONTENT SPECIFIC TO YOUR INTERESTS, to track the pages you've visited and to make sure you don't see the same ads repeatedly. The capitalized part means that somehow when you post, it's as if there is a library kept somewhere of what words you type, and then a pop up (from their multitude of advertisers) will start to appear that is "specific to your interests" and "These cookies allow us to use the information we collect to customize your iVillage experience so that your visit to iVillage is as relevant and as valuable to you as possible." (ergo, key words are recorded when you type and a relevent pop up is found just for you.) Does this sound possible? When I first joined the forum, I never got the pop ups, but when I started replying and posting, it seems that strange pop ups started to plague me. Like when I posted about the dog in my yard, suddenly Iams dog food pop ups. When I posted about spiders, poof! home insect repellent pop ups. Does anyone else notice this? Or have I just been re-reading 1984?

Hoping not to take this thread too far off topic but since the issue of keeping shower glass clean is being discussed.... Our master bath glass shower has been in use several times daily for the past 9 years. With minimal effort it is as pristine today as it was 9 years ago. We squeegee after each shower but when I clean the bathroom I occasionally wipe over the glass with wet SPENT dryer sheets. A quick rinse and the glass is sparkling! I confess I polish all my glass, windows, mirrors etc. with crumpled newspaper for a really good finish, and I do this after cleaning the showers too. Very quick, great results. Lizbeth-gardener I encountered the same problem when I was helping my brother prepare the house he had just purchased. The shower glass was almost opaque with hard water and soap scum. Nothing would remove it until in desperation I tried liquid toilet bowl cleaner (I prefer Sno Bol), wiped on with a cloth and rinsed well !! If you try it be careful, read the cautions on the container, test a small area and use gloves, that stuff is caustic! It worked really well for us and the glass became clear again.
