Webby, thanks for the info. I looked into it, but what I was mentioning before was about the pop ups. What the opt out does, I think after my first sift thru session, is allow you reject any news, advertising emails, etc. that results from the personal information that was gathered when you register. I want to know how to turn off all cookies from this site. They are very slick in positioning them on the screen so that when you want to click on a forum, the pop up is activated, using up resources and your sound. I read under the Cookies explanation on the link you gave that says: "Our site uses a feature of your browser to set a "cookie" on your computer. Cookies are small packets of information that a site's computer stores on your computer. The iVillage Network can then read the cookies whenever you visit the iVillage websites. We use cookies to save your password so you don't have to re-enter it each time you visit our site, TO DELIVER CONTENT SPECIFIC TO YOUR INTERESTS, to track the pages you've visited and to make sure you don't see the same ads repeatedly. The capitalized part means that somehow when you post, it's as if there is a library kept somewhere of what words you type, and then a pop up (from their multitude of advertisers) will start to appear that is "specific to your interests" and "These cookies allow us to use the information we collect to customize your iVillage experience so that your visit to iVillage is as relevant and as valuable to you as possible." (ergo, key words are recorded when you type and a relevent pop up is found just for you.) Does this sound possible? When I first joined the forum, I never got the pop ups, but when I started replying and posting, it seems that strange pop ups started to plague me. Like when I posted about the dog in my yard, suddenly Iams dog food pop ups. When I posted about spiders, poof! home insect repellent pop ups. Does anyone else notice this? Or have I just been re-reading 1984?

I posted this over on computer help some may want to do this to help stop some of the tracking ads. Opt-Out of being tracked online this was mentioned on Kim Komando, with one click there you can opt out of a LOT of the online tracking advertisers, about as easy as it gets, does not cover all but many. Hoping not to take this thread too far off topic but since the issue of keeping shower glass clean is being discussed.... Our master bath glass shower has been in use several times daily for the past 9 years. With minimal effort it is as pristine today as it was 9 years ago. We squeegee after each shower but when I clean the bathroom I occasionally wipe over the glass with wet SPENT dryer sheets. A quick rinse and the glass is sparkling! I confess I polish all my glass, windows, mirrors etc. with crumpled newspaper for a really good finish, and I do this after cleaning the showers too. Very quick, great results. Lizbeth-gardener I encountered the same problem when I was helping my brother prepare the house he had just purchased. The shower glass was almost opaque with hard water and soap scum. Nothing would remove it until in desperation I tried liquid toilet bowl cleaner (I prefer Sno Bol), wiped on with a cloth and rinsed well !! If you try it be careful, read the cautions on the container, test a small area and use gloves, that stuff is caustic! It worked really well for us and the glass became clear again.

Daisy, my laptop battery is fine. :) Mostly it's plugged in and remains fully charged. The only BT device I use with it is a mouse. I got used to using a track pad on my MacBook and decided I wanted one for my iMac. My iMac has the BT keyboard and mouse. They go through batteries, although I'm using some old rechargeable AA in them and I think their useful lives have gone way down. My iMac has a USB trackpad because I had an available USB port and it doesn't really make any difference since everything's always plugged in. I find I need a combination of trackpad/keyboard/mouse. I thought I'd hate using a trackpad, but I've adapted and appreciate that it's right under my fingers when I need it.
