Peyton has her surgery scheduled for this next friday. On the other hand I ended up in the emergency room at 10:00 last night in terrible pain. The dignosis was 2 kidney stones ( had no idea and on passed this morning the other is still there), very low potassium level which we have gotten up. My gallbladder was contracting and is still full of stones. After a night of pain and worry about the kids and Peyton's surgery, I bit the bullet and am scheduled for surgery with the gallbladder on Tuesday. With the multilple attacks and problems there is a chance that they may have to do the full open surgery, not my idea of fun after just having a c-section.

Let me tell you though the thought of all of you out there praying for me and thinking of me made me make it through the last 2 days. Now if I could beg for another week of thoughts that would be great.

Add my dad to the mix. Nothing too serious, but when he couldn't get off of the side of the bed this morning, the paramedics took him to the ER. He was finally admitted with a "soft pneumonia" whatever that is and seems pretty good. PT will be "walking" him tomorrow and re-evaluate. He's 85 and has steadily been declining. Ironically I spent yesterday interviewing 3 potential caregivers to help my mother care for him. We didn't hire one yet, but I guess this episode will put a rush on it.
So please say a prayer to help us get past this hurdle, thanks!

I'm doing so good that I'm almost off the pain meds. The reason I waited so long to do this surgery is that the upper and lower vertebrae, from the fusion, can/will start to weaken which means more of the same surgery in the future. Even with that info, I wish I would have done this surgery sooner. I still can't type for long but that will change very soon. Thanks for asking Linda. It's good to know friends are thinking about you when your not up to par.

Tristen is doing well so the prayers worked. :-)

Chammi is coming along. It's so hard when they grow old...I had a 17 year old Bassett Hound.

Compumom, I went through the interview bit for caregivers for my Mom, and it's a daunting task. However, I was lucky that the 2nd caregiver I interviewed turned out to be just right. I could tell she'd be good, and that she knew what she was doing. The first one I interviewed impressed my sister because she had a bubbly personality, but alarm bells were going off in my head because she kept talking about how much she needed the job, and the money. She did talk about what a good cook she was, but that's not enough. It's the neediness of her, I could just see Mom's valuables walking out the door with her. The second one, the one we hired, talked only about what's best for Mom, and was very opinionated about how she should and shouldn't be cared for. She took good care of my mother till the end, and even came and helped out with the funeral, on her own time. Good luck in your search. I bet you'll know in your gut when you've found the right person.

Linda, Thank you for putting this all together. My thanks to those who prayed for or thought of my DGS, and my prayers and good thoughts to those who are still struggling or on the mend. And thank you Karen for reminding us about Brenda. Is she still in the hopsital?
Here is a fervent wish that we all start feeling our best in this new year.

Let me add Elery's stepmom to the list. She had heart surgery a couple of months ago, ended up coming home for a couple of days, going back to the hospital with fluid in her lungs and she's never come home since. Now she's in a nursing home, they're trying to build up her strength so so can have more surgery to fix a heart valve. Sigh.

She and Elery's Dad just maried 3 years ago, after Elery's mother died. Poor guy, he spent 7 years visiting elery's Mom while she was in a nursing home with Alzheimer's, now he's visiting his second wife in the nursing home.

Add some prayers for Frances Barnes, please, the poor man shouldn't lose two spouses in just a couple of years.

To everyone else, keep it up, I'm glad Karen is feeling better, lee is recuperating and Chammi is coming along, though slowly.

Please add my DM to the list. She broke out with shingles last week. She had them 30 yrs ago but at 88 it's even worse. She is also having gall bladder issues, there's stones there but is hoping to avoid surgery.

I'm praying that 2009 is a much better year for all.

My dad is still hospitalized with generalized weakness. He no longer has a diagnosis of pneumonia, but instead weakness and dehydration possibly caused by the introduction last week of Aricept. The doctor is hoping for a discharge by Weds. but we may need a full time caregiver at home.
Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

Karen, thanks for including me on the list. Sherry, no I am not in the hospital, thank goodness. Just having some issues with some hematomas and decisions re surgery vs. risks and keeping the blood clots at bay.
Ellen, I am glad your dad doesn't have pneumonia, I hope he gets well enough to go home soon.

Nancy: I hope your Mom's shingles get better soon. I hope she got the shot within the time limit that is supposed to help, as it certainly helped DH not so long ago.

Thanks, Dad is home, ornery and with a full time caregiver and my mom. He's already barking orders and trying to sneak in calls to the stockbroker! LOL

Tristin just has a horrible snotty-nose cold, and it doesn't appear that the surgery site is a problem, other than it being tender. Gramma worries for no reason I guess.

Raising my coffee cup to snot nosed toddlers!!
