It's a Serta brand and unlike the Sunbeam from Costco, it does heat quickly and well. I love that it's light weight( maybe due to cheaper materiel...I don't care!) and doesn't add much weight under my lovely, floaty down comforter. FYI, I got a queen for our king bed, just to have less to deal with. the length is fine, and there's very little over-hang on the sides and that suits me perfectly. I also realized why I prefer a blanket to a mattress warmer. I can get away from the heat, instantly, whenever I want.

I believe so. I am a proponent of only using all-cotton mattress pads. A further big improvement with either one is to add a thick wool blanket under the pad. It makes the bed so much cooler-feeling in warm weather (and cozier in cold temps, too.) You could have a wool-filled pad, but I like to launder mattress pads frequently in hot water and wool pads must be washed at cooler temps. I wouldn't pay extra for high thread count materials in a pad. For pads I want the sturdiest, more washable materials possible. All-cotton pads are absurdly expensive, but worth it in my view. OMG, the heated mattress pad is the best thing since sliced bread~~~LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT~~~~ I hate cold sheets. DH's side never gets turned on because he is cold blooded....but I use it all the time to warm up my side and turn it off before I go to sleep....sure does help those old "arthur joints". I got mine from Penney's. I hope you enjoy yours.

I think it would be fine. I can get very cold in deep winter and have always used a heated mattress pad which sometimes is on high all night. I also have 2 blankets and a heavy fake fur throw on top of me. I have at times thought about getting an electric blanket too but I don't like feeling wires with my toes when I've used them in the past. I like the house to be quite cold at night, 60 is nice. Then I can turn the fire on in the morning and that is cozy.
