Another electric mattress pad question please

I am looking at buying one of these. I am wondering, do you put it on the mattress and then put your fitted sheet on top of it.

Also I am looking at the Sunbean dynasy one or the Sunbeam theraputic one which has three differetn zones you can turn on seperately from each other like neck area or leg area or body.

Anyone familiar with either of these models.

I have a protective mattress pad (required by my mattress warranty), then the heated mattress pad, then the fitted sheet. I've only used the ones with dual controls (one for the left, one for the right).

Yes, you put a fitted sheet over it. Off the top of my head, I don't recall the brand I have, but I think control over different zones of heat is unnecessary for most people. I would go with the other one.

You are probably right about the zones and it would save me money to get the regular one.

I too have a serious back problem and my wife often has difficulty with "hot flashes at night". We researched and tested many brands including Shifman, Hypnos, S&F, Beautyrest, Simmons, Serta, Kluft and finally decided on Royal Pedic. We purchased a box spring (required by the manufacturer for the warranty), the standard 8" thick all cotton mattress with a 4" thick organic topper with organis wool and latex. While this was an expensive combination our research strongly suggested this was a quality purchase that still reflected real value. We have had the new set for about a month and we absolutely love the restfull sleep we get. My wife is very pleased with the cool comfort of the organic wool/latex/organic cotton cover topper and my back has not fealt this good for longer than I can remember. I wake up and spring out of bed, fully rested and pain free. We certainly would recommend you try Royal Pedic if you can find a dealer. Cuse69

Good to know I'm not the only one, Weedmeister. The power strip has a switch, but I haven't used it because my alarm clock is plugged into it. I did some moving things around last night, and was able to plug the bed warmer directly into the outlet. So far so good!

Someone who had the electric blanket under the mattress pad said that they turn it off before climbing into bed, but I feel that a blanket that was built to lie on top of the occupants is part of an entirely different ballgame when the bodies move, bang and bump over it all night long, whether it's turned on or not. It wasn't built to stand such abuse, and will probably get damaged, eventually, which will probably have an effect when the power is turned on, later. ole joyful

I have never heard of these. Are they safe? Wonder what it would do to a Tempur Pedic mattress...melt?

They really don't get hot like that, though you're not supposed to double it up with a heating pad too. I have a Sunbeam, don't recall the model. It was about $75, no zones but maybe 9 settings. I can't believe what heaven these things are! Best thing I ever did for myself (and the cats) was the great mattress and a heated pad : )

Our old one didn't have a preheat setting or an auto off so I plugged the mattress pad into a timer. Worked great, we could adjust the timer and have the bed preheated by bedtime and didn't have to worry about turning if off every day.

When shopping for a mattress, I was told by some that there are some mattresses with a tempurpedic type of topper on them that you shouldn't use a heated mattress pad. i don't remember why not.
I have a heated mattress pad and LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!!!!! They are also washable in the washing machine.
Yeah, fitted sheet goes on top of it.

OMG, the heated mattress pad is the best thing since sliced bread~~~LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT~~~~ I hate cold sheets. DH's side never gets turned on because he is cold blooded....but I use it all the time to warm up my side and turn it off before I go to sleep....sure does help those old "arthur joints". I got mine from Penney's. I hope you enjoy yours.

Ever since I bought myself a down comforter and a natural latex bed, I am never cold anymore. I was going to buy an electric mattress pad before I got my new bed and comforter but now I do not need it. But I do know an ex-boyfriend from years ago who bought one and he loved it.

I use one to warm up my side of the bed in cold weather. My husband almost never turns his side on. I just put it on the mattress and put the sheet over it.

I recommend it, I love getting into a warm bed on a cold night.

On top of my mattress I have a eggcrate then put the mattress pad and top of that my sheet. I turn off the heat before I go to bed. Evelyn
