AVG 8 and New Tool Bar in Firefox

I installed AVG 8, Free, last night and that resulted in, I may have agreed, a new full with tool bar at the top of my Firefox screen. I don't see what use that tool bar has, but can't say I've tried very hard, e.g., reading a description of AVG 8. Why should I keep it, and if I don't how do I get rid of it.

AVG IS BECOMING BLOAT WARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

* Internet Explorer - use the mouse right-click on the toolbar and check-off the AVGTOOLBAR option in the list.

* Mozilla Firefox - Tools menu -> Add-ons. Find the AVG Toolbar here and click on the Disable button.

in your original post about AVG 8 I gave you a FAQ which explained how to get AVG with out that and also how to remove it.

there are some wonderful add-ons for firefox that you will want to add, first is ad block plus with the easylist subscription that will block all the annoying ads you normally see. To do that click to add it to fire fox then when is says you need to restart firefox do that then go to the link for easylist and click on where it says add easylist to ad block plus you can restart firefox again to make sure it took Adblock Plus :: Add-ons for Firefox EasyList there you go that will install ad block plus and your easylist for you. Check out the add-ons page you will find so many that will help you. Like the no squint that was mentioned NoSquint 2.1 this link may be a little outdated but a lot of it will still apply to the new version of firefox Learn Firefox to change your font size and type in firefox click on Tools options that will bring up your settings box. Go through those various tabs to learn what all is there. The first page will have your homepage settings, and where you want thing to go to when you do a download. Under content you can change fonts and sizes etc the privacy tab has some settings you may want to look at and adjust, I always block 3rd party cookies. when you need to clear your cache or cookies etc just click on Tools then clear recent history that brings up the options for exactly what you want cleared and also pay attention to the time frame option it has a drop down menu to select from.

yes I had posted a warning about that some time back, we must be extremely diligent these days any time we choose to install anything because even good reputable companies are trying to hoist that junk on us with pre selected items. You can remove it via the Windows control panel, add/remove program dialog. In the list you should find ZA Spy Blocker and also "ZoneAlarm toolbar: If you install ZoneAlarm and do not uncheck the "Spy Blocker" toolbar option, the Spy Blocker toolbar for IE and Firefox will be installed, which includes the Ask.com searchbar. To remove this toolbar, click on the ZoneAlarm logo in the toolbar to open a drop down panel that includes an uninstall function."

AvG8 users there is an update issue

Thanks so much for letting us know. I was getting an error messages that said "Connection to the update server has failed". I wasn't sure if it was AVG or my computer. I'll wait until it's fixed and try again. Dee

that has occurred to some people after the most recent update, you might try seeing if you have any other updates and getting them, including updates to any of your add ons, it is likely a conflict with an add on since it is only happening to very few people. You might try deleting FF and getting it fresh perhaps you have a corrupted profile.

ravencajun, I have uninstalled FF and rebooted, two times. It still happens.

I found this in my advanced system information, under view the error log. ( The IP address lease then my IP numbers follow for the network card with network address then more numbers has been denied by the DHCP server then my IP address.)The DHCP server sent a DHCPNACK message)

Also another one that said- (Your computer has lost the lease to it's IP address then my IP numbers on the network card with network address then more numbers.)
