AVG 8 and New Tool Bar in Firefox

I installed AVG 8, Free, last night and that resulted in, I may have agreed, a new full with tool bar at the top of my Firefox screen. I don't see what use that tool bar has, but can't say I've tried very hard, e.g., reading a description of AVG 8. Why should I keep it, and if I don't how do I get rid of it.

AVG IS BECOMING BLOAT WARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

* Internet Explorer - use the mouse right-click on the toolbar and check-off the AVGTOOLBAR option in the list.

* Mozilla Firefox - Tools menu -> Add-ons. Find the AVG Toolbar here and click on the Disable button.

in your original post about AVG 8 I gave you a FAQ which explained how to get AVG with out that and also how to remove it.

Hi breenthumb, I still use AVG, I have for years and I like it. I did run into an issue in late November in which I was continually asked to reboot. I posted on the AVG Forum and received the following fix from Big Al 43:(and it did work although I was not wild about the tone of the forum) "Restarting.... First check in the Advanced settings... Tools-> Advanced Settings-> Update in the 'When to update files' settings... it should be set to 'Update immediately' & 'Require confirmation from the user'... Now this should solve your restart issue.... Problem is most probably in failure of file replacing on Windows restart. Look into folder where AVG is installed whether file "updatecomps.cfg.prepare" exists. If yes, then delete existing file "updatecomps.cfg" and rename "updatecomps.cfg.prepare" to "updatecomps.cfg". actually AVG 8.5 is the latest version out, there were some early reports on some of the other forums I am on of problems, I know they were working on them. So if you do get AVG make sure you get the latest version avg 8.5.278 released I no longer use AVG just had too many problems when the went to 8. They decided to compile several tools into one with 8 rather than just leaving it the good stand alone AV product it was and that was the mistake. They had a great AV and a great product in Ewido and trying to combine it all together with some other items just conflicted with too many systems. I now use AVAST free and love it. you will want to read these AVG FAQ sheets prior to install to find out how to do it with out the link scanner and things that are causing problems. FAQ As with most things pc related it might work just great for some but really cause others a very bad day, I personally just can not discount the number of people who did have some bad days. I have Firefox 3.6.16. If I click on Tools, About Mozilla Firefox is at the bottom of the list. It tells what version I have. Above that in the drop down box is Check for Updates. I do that and it tells me there is a new version available, and the choices are Ask later, No Thanks or Get the new version. I haven't gotten the new version; waiting to see what others say about it. that has occurred to some people after the most recent update, you might try seeing if you have any other updates and getting them, including updates to any of your add ons, it is likely a conflict with an add on since it is only happening to very few people. You might try deleting FF and getting it fresh perhaps you have a corrupted profile.

ravencajun, I have uninstalled FF and rebooted, two times. It still happens.

I found this in my advanced system information, under view the error log. ( The IP address lease then my IP numbers follow for the network card with network address then more numbers has been denied by the DHCP server then my IP address.)The DHCP server sent a DHCPNACK message)

Also another one that said- (Your computer has lost the lease to it's IP address then my IP numbers on the network card with network address then more numbers.)
