If it were me and I was trying to open an image-I'd be using an image viewer and not anything associated with MS Office. Do you have an image viewer? If yes, then right-click the file in Windows Explorer and choose that program to open the image. If no-then Google -image viewer- and you'll be immediately confronted with several free ones, any one of which will do what you need. As for why MS Office wants your product key...the possibilities are: your copy of the program is not registered you think it's registered but the registration somehow failed your copy of the software is illegal It would be helpful to know how you got this copy of the program. Also, is it working okay other than this one problem?

It would be helpful perhaps if we knew the 3 digit extension on the file name. Or is this for more than one kind of file? If you were sending a .jpg image there would/should be no problem but if you are sending with a Mac specific extension then PC users would not likely be able to open the attachments. I am not a Mac user but am trying to assist my sister who has bought an iPad2 having never owned a computer before so the going is tough.

What was the suffix on the original email you could not open? Was it .pps - .ppt - or was there an additional x on the end of either suffix? You cannot simply change a suffix, all that does is ruin the file entirely. If you have MS Office you do not need Open Office. However if it is an older version (97, 2000 or 2003) and you receive a PowerPoint 2007 presentation it may not work. You can download the stand alone player from Microsoft from the link below. Take a look here and see if that cures your problem. PowerPoint presentations are among the best emails you can get in my opinion. The program was and still is basically a program for the office environment but many have found it an excellent way to show off family or scenery photos. It has been my experience that leaks rarely, if ever, heal themselves. In this case it's an external leak across the bypass valve and that is an inconvenience when changing a filter unless in the middle of a filter change the bypass valve fails and crosses more water flow after the valve has been closed. The gate valve will ultimately fail and either refuse to close or more likely break when it is in or close to the closed position which is a bigger problem. The OP will choose whether to redo the install with the correct parts or risk what he now knows might happen. That is his choice to make but that doesn't change the reality of what should be done to make the installation correct and reliable in the first place.
