Email problem: received wordperfect attachment

I received a wordperfect email attachment. I tried opening it and I tried saving it and both times getting an error message. I generally use Word and not Wordperfect so is there something special I need to do to make it open?

Is the attachment too large? I think the ultimate limit is supposed to be 10MB, but if the recipient is on dial up, that would be one long download! Hotmail notoriously fails to deliver many attachments. Maybe try sending to an alternate email address. Gmail is free and more reliable IMO. Pam

Do a full update AV scan and updated malware scan immediately. Historically this kind of negative e-mail activity may extrapolate when opened infecting the recipent. This is probably how your relative became infected. This activity and variations of it have been around for years. Please don't be hard on yourself as in this case the e-mail came from a known sender. DA
