Might flush windows dns cache incase its somehow gotten corrupt. open a CMD window from the Run line off the start button menu, then type in; ipconfig /flushdns Then if still happens, you might want to use windows search feature, put a check mark in the box for advanced. Search for the hosts file with no extension; HOSTS standard path is C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts right click and open with or send_to notepad. Its a special text file. Do not open it with anything other than notepad because when you save changes wordpad and some other text views add funny carriage returns and formatting which will screw things up. When you type in www.google.com in your browser, that needs to be converted to an ip number and windows will look in the HOSTS file first...then it looks in recent dns cache' which you just cleared,,, before actually asking your isp for googles street address. Anyhow,, in the HOSTS some less than honest exploits will redirect your google search to them from there,,,, so see if it has google listed in HOSTS with an ip number, if so just disable that line by adding a pound sign plus one blank space in front of it like this... # 209.62.176.52 www.google.net

Firefox ... another quick way also (for many things); 1.Enter about:config into the address bar and hit Enter. 2.Press the "I"ll be carefull." button. 3.Enter browser.urlbar.maxRichResults in the Filter field. Right click and edit. 4.Set it to any number of suggestions.

Yes. When using Firefox (the one I just updated to), if I type http://www.google.com I now get directed to igoogle...always. In my version of Firefox (3.6.17) it is no longer possible to get the the plain old, cleaner-looking Google.com homepage anymore. Raven, the links you sent did not help to remedy this. Even the mentioned http://www.google.com/ncr sends me to the same page, iGoogle (personalizable page). I guess that's how it has to be with this version of Firefox. On the other hand, IE still let's me go to http://www.google.com. Although I'm not a Mac user, I read a thread on a Mac forum that mentions this iGoogle redirect as far back as 2005.

try looking at this info Google.com redirects to another Google domain try using these google links see what happens you can reset one of them as your default for google if you need to. https://www.google.com/webhp?hl=en https://www.google.com/ncr when on the google page to the far right is a small gear looking icon which is options click that, click on search settings, click on languages on the left, select your language and save changes, then on the left again click location fill in location info save. Maybe some thing in all of this will help.
