Can I get your opinions on Fisher & Paykel refrigerators?
Comments (10)I am NOT saying that this is a bad thing, but F&P has been in increasing financial difficulty over the last few years. Chinese appliance giant Haier, who had a 20% stake in F&P since the 2009 downturn, just won majority control of F&P with the next four largest shareholders agreeing to sell their stake to Haier. This gives Haier 51.6% of F&P. It remains to be seen what effect this will have long-term on F&P's manufacturing and quality control. Haier is making no promises about possible staff layoffs or other changes. Comments (2)it's the same as any other E522 series machine, just different door. We haven't had too many major issues with the ones we've sold over the last 2 years. Just stupid things like a cracked crisper draw, dead light bulbs, stuff like that...See MoreFisher Paykel Refrigerators? - New Quad door coming out
Comments (37)Stay away from the Fisher Paykel quad door fridge! If I don't keep all my food on the bottom shelf they go moldy (YES moldy) in very little time. Technician has been out and of course can't see what is wrong. What is wrong is that their Active Smart technology is pretty dumb indeed. I believe the cold air is not distributed properly due to poor design of cold air outlets. I keep highly perishable foods upstairs in a bar fridge! That's insane after what I paid for the FP. Stay away is my advice....See MoreDacor vs Fisher Paykel Refrigeration? Two units vs three?
Comments (15)@dadoes, yup, and there’s a reason why those GE units introduced in 1927 ceased to be. “The first refrigerator to see widespread use was the General Electric "Monitor-Top" refrigerator introduced in 1927, so-called, by the public, because of its resemblance to the gun turret on the ironclad warship USS Monitor of the 1860s.[10] The compressor assembly, which emitted a great deal of heat, was placed above the cabinet, and enclosed by a decorative ring. Over a million units were produced. As the refrigerating medium, these refrigerators used either sulfur dioxide, which is corrosive to the eyes and may cause loss of vision, painful skin burns and lesions, or methyl formate, which is highly flammable, harmful to the eyes, and toxic if inhaled or ingested. Many of these units are still functional today, after requiring little more service than a replacement start relay or thermostat if at all. These cooling systems cannot legally be recharged with the hazardous original refrigerants if they leak or break down.” Besides, those had just one compressor, not two. We can say then, that SZ is the innovator of modern refrigeration, with duel processors on top of the fridge....See Moredennisgli
