Starting a 2hp compressor on an extension cord using 120v source is asking a lot. Does the motor have an option to allow it to run on 240v instead? If it did, I would use that option. I had a Sears 1hp compressor that would not start on an extension cord with the normal cut-in tank pressure. I finally got a new 2hp compressor using 240v. It will start on a 50' extension cord with even higher cut-in pressures. If you can't go with 240v, check your line voltage at the plug outlet to see what happens when it tries to start. The label says it has 512 MB of memory. I'm not sure which memory this is referring to, but if it is the RAM on the motherboard, it could use an upgrade. Windows XP likes to have 2 Gigabyte (2 GB) or more. You are using a wireless router on a DSL sevice. Make sure that your wireless router is secured so that someone else within range can't horn in and ride piggyback on your connection for free. The more computers using the connection, the slower it gets for any one computer. The next potential bottle neck is the DSL service. If this is over a phone line, it may not be a large jump in speed over a standard dial-up service. A good connection does have marked improvement in speed, but a troublesome connection looses much speed advantge. Consider taking the computer to a shop or friend and try on their lines. Another problem, if over a phone line, is a noisy line. Thw phone company can test your phone line for quality. Make sure that you tell the technicam that this line will be used for internet service. If over a phone line, another bottleneck can be the phone company. It may not have installed equipemnt capable of high speed data transfer. If you have a friend who has a high speed cable connection with a wireless router, you may want to try your computer on his connection. Have the computer checked out at a computer shop to discover if it is the computer or the DSL service to your house.

You might try, if you havent, running the CheckDisk Error checking - right click C drive and select properties. Usually when you cant delete IE cache its an indication of a corrupt file within Content.IE5 folder. Sometimes running CheckDisk here in the past has fixed simple things like a file date that's screwed up from a server but it won't be able to fix all things that could be causing the cache not to clear. You'll have to be logged in as administrator in safe mode but not on the named account where its corrupt to be able to delete it. I would speculate it could be a corrupt user account too. Which would require you to make a new user name/pass login and the delete your current one. But the first logical thing to do is delete the content.ie5 folder from safe mode and another account - and see what happens.

Do Ctrl-Alt-Del to bring up your Task Manager, click on the Processes tab, and click once or twice on the CPU tab at the top of the listings: this will show what process is chewing up the most resources (which will probably be the culprit). Also, look at the CPU Usage line at the bottom of Task Manager and see what the % Usage is. Then report back here on what you found out.
