Half Load and Sanitize options in Bosch 800 series dishwasher
Comments (2)I don't know about the sanitize option. Our Bosch DW, top of the line which we bought a little over a year ago doesn't have that feature (or if it does, I never paid attention to it). But we do have the top rack only option that we've used occasionally. It uses less water (and detergent), so you can wash a small load without being wasteful. You can also combine the top rack only option with the "Opti-Miser" option which reduced the total 2-hour cycle time by about 20 minutes. Overall, we nearly always just use the regular cycle with the Opti-Miser option, which does a staisfactory job. We don't even bother with the rinse agent, because we don't see the need for it. But that might depend on local water hardness issues. It's my impression that with the top of the line machines, you can combine several options so you can zero in on exactly what you want. Our DW does not have the Miele style of flatware tray. I do not know what advantage there is, if any, to stacking flatware horizontally, but I have read elsewhere on this forum that the Miele style of flatware stacking is problematic. Our Bosch comes with a flatware holder that can be taken apart into 2 identical holders. We use only one when we use the top only option. The holder also is fitted with a top that enables you to stack each piece of flatware into its own little slot. That top is attached to the holder by hinges, so you can easily disengage it to stack larger pieces of flatware that don't fit into the slots. I think you might be able to download the owner's manual of the diswaasher you're interested in as a pdf file either from the Bosch website or from one of the on-line appliance merchant websites....See Morebosch 800 + series does not dry dishes????
Comments (25)Hi Peke i guess I shouldnt be shocked others are putting up with this kind of experience probably everywhere these are sold! i understand your the wife in the house, after blowing $900 on this and noticing the wet dishes, I actually get up early to open the dw, so wifey doesn’t realize the poor decision I made, coupled with the fact I was a certified appliance tech!, I ended up with a different career, but still. i noticed when shopping for dw’s, some the brands were recently adding doors that “popped “ open at end of cycle. my impression was, hmmm, why? never in my wildest dreams did I imagine Bosch removing the heating/drying elements! And forgot to mention in my first story, the fan/ventilation system standard on all machines is ALSO removed. im sure some engineers got a big fat bonus in their paycheck’s for saving the company $$$. the mongural brands I steer clear from AT LEAST have the door pop open feature to assist a little drying dishes . well, I’ve gone on too long with this, the fact that it’s already installed is what stops me from returning it. and you bet Bosch is betting on that. I installed mysel, most people will spend in addition to the dw itself, $200-$300 for installatio! which practically guarantee’s you won’t be returning. gotta go, got dishes to dry....See MoreBosch 500 Series/800 Series dishwashers
Comments (18)Hi everyone, Thanks to all who responded to my questions about Bosch dishwasher. I was already planning to buy Bosch, but my KD comments about Bosch made me doubt my choice. Anyhow, after reading comments from all of you, my final choice has been made about dishwasher. It is going to be Bosch 800 series!! Anyhow, can I use any dishwasher detergent for Bosch or is there any particular brand recommended? I prefer to use liquid detergent. Iharpie......I am a tea drinker and all of my mugs and cups have tea stains. But twice a week I put 1/2 tsp. of bleach (which is meant for white clothes) in each mug and let the mugs sit for a couple of minutes and then you wash the mugs with dish soap. Mugs will be shine like a whistle! Thank you, Mindy S....See MoreBosch Dishwashers- 500 vs. 800 series
Comments (12)Both of my daughters recently purchased the 800 series with the crystal dry. They have been very happy thus far. My older daughter uses A LOT of plastics with the kids. They are dry with the exceptions of dips and areas where water can pool. I have emptied her dishwasher a few times and find the crystal dry works very well. It is an option so you have to make sure you turn it on. I have a miele with the auto open door - not only does it open the door but it continues to circulate air to enhance the drying process. I do not know if the 500 does this or just pops the door open. I have seen a few comments from folks with the 500 with auto open door that their dishes are dry. My MIL has the 500 without the open door feature (she has had it several years). Her dishes are dry but she does not have many plastics. Hopefully someone with the 500 will chime in. I had an early 2000 model bosch in a rental house for 1+ years. Dishes were clean and dry - no complaints. It was not a fancy model but still very quiet. The 800 has a couple of different 3rd rack options that you may want to explore. Both of my daughters got the “my way rack” as they use it for bowls as they use lots of bowls. They still use the basket for cutlery and some utensils. The rack in the 500 (and some 800 models) is bascially for cutlery and some utensils. My MIL took her basket out and puts all her cutlery in the top rack as well as most of her utensils....See Moresnowflake4
