Greetings,

The past month I've had an advertisement to the right of my hotmail email page and at times I can not read my entire email as this advertisement overlays the body of the email. How do I get rid of it? I've browsed through the options but can't figure it out.

if you use firefox browser and use the adblock plus add on you will not see any ads on hotmail or elsewhere.

I see no ads on my hotmail ever.

do you have pop up blockers enabled?

I too have that happen and use Firefox and was told how to get rid of the advertisement. Well now the advertisement is gone, but now there is a box with nothing in in to the right of the message.

Up at the top of the email you should see where it says (in a yellow box)
This message is too wide to fit your screen. Show full message
Click on the link-Show full message- and you can then see it all.

It was a lot of work trying to find the "where" to add a contact. But I found it (Hotmail / Outlook). Go the following link "after you have already logged into your hotmail account": https://people.live.com/ You can add your new contact here at any time, don't have to wait for an email to come in from your new contact, at the top of the page you just click on "New" and you will get the fields to add your new contact. It seems a dumb way of doing it, I couldn't find any other way. I hope this helps.

I have used hotmail as my primary email since 97, I started out as an msn dial up customer and got the hotmail and msn email addies, I use the hotmail daily. I am now with Verizon fios which also has msn so I still have all my msn addies. I also have the msn browser which I love to use to view my hotmail. I have not tried the hotmail live since I like the one I have so well. My other fave is using gmail through mozilla thunderbird. Works super good and no ads at all plus all the good points of gmail and the ease of thunderbird and of course there are add ons for thunderbird just like for firefox. If you already have a gmail account I would say try downloading and setting up thunderbird to get your gmail and use it. The directions to do that are on the gmail site under the settings tab, using Pop and Imap, thunderbird's new version is supposed to be set up following the imap directions. It is very simple. You can then have your full address book and it will fetch all your mail for you. Here is a link that might be useful: thunderbird

Me and computers have our problems and I just now realized I lost the same line. I finally found the problem. If you click on the symbol for "full page screen" at top right you will probably have the line back. It is between the - and the X. Good luck!

I use Windows Live Mail that gets my server mail. There are 2 ways to block it in there. I maybe get one spam a year, it usually something I have done to receive it. It is not because I blocked it. A tech from my server told me to make a unique email address and it will stop most spam. He said he didn't get any spam. A lot of people say this doesn't work but it does for me. I make an addy that only makes sense to me using an old street address number mixed in with my initials alternating numbers and letters.

Thanks to both of your for answering. I used window explorer. Most times I do get that yellow box and click on it and it resolves the problem for that email. However, I've had a couple emails where that yellow box does not show up and I can't see the entire email content.

I would love to resolve it permanently.
