I have two questions about email.

First question. I want to add a new email address in OE to use in Windows Live Mail. When I go to OE and click add I get this: My incoming mail server is a POP3 Server

Then below that it says this: Incoming mail POP3,IMAP or HTTP Server.I have to put something in the box and I don't know what to put in there.

Then below that it says: An SMTP server is the server that is used for your outgoing e-mail.

Outgoing mail (SMTP)server.

Below is the box. I have to put in there who the Outgoing mail server is. I am just guessing though.

Where do I get my information from to put in the boxes?

Do I have to call my ISP to get that information?

Second question:

I have gotten emails from friends of mine where I have to click on this attachment to get a video to play. On the attachment it says it is a .wmv, I was just curious how they do that.

On question #1 I enter POP3.yourisp.com (if you have trouble try removing the 3 in POP3) - then SMTP.yourisp.com

Question #2. This is simply an attachment added or appended to the email. They can be videos, PowerPoint shows, text (txt) messages or anything else. To open any of these attachments the recipient simply double clicks on the attachment.

To attach a file create your outgoing email, click the paperclip icon at the top (or click Insert and File attachment) In the new menu browse to the file you want, click to highlight, click Attach . Done.

A Vanilla doesn't have to get that big. This one belongs to a neighbor who has it in a gallon pot with bamboo for support. She keeps it trimmed to about seven feet and it makes a nice presentation. There are enough branches that it fills the space well and is still portable. The highlight of the year was when it bloomed last July. There were six buds that opened about one a day. Getting the picture was in response to a "grab your camera and get over here" call. Even so, the flower was not as nice as it had been four hours earlier and by evening it was gone altogether. It is not a coincidence that your maple is turning color early on the side of the removed arborvitae. With non-conifer trees, usually the branches on one side of the tree are mainly fed by roots on the same side. The maple will be fine. The only other thing done by damaging the roots (besides general stress) is the greater possibility of verticillum wilt infection because of the greater number of wounds as infection points. The wilt enters the tree through the roots. You can't do anything about that anyway, so I wouldn't worry about it. Our ash trees will eventually be wiped out, far worse that the elms with Dutch elm disease. Their tree WILL die, it's only a matter of time. Insecticides can work, but must be applied at least yearly. (I think there is one chemical that can be applied every two years, but it is even more expensive). Unless this is professionally injected into the tree, this is not very environmentally friendly either. I was completely taken aback at a review given on TV by one of the news stations; they were interviewing various tree companies for their advice on ash trees infected by or in danger of FAB. Only one gave removal of the trees as a possible (and preferred) alternative. All the other businesses interviewed only wanted to pump the trees with chemicals (and for coming years without end). The news station was very biased, and went out of the way to how "bad" the advice of removal was. (Who knew that news stations were experts of tree insects?) Complete idiots. My whole point with that story is for you to be careful how you approach the removal option. It is what I would do. The tree will only get larger in time, and more costly to remove. I wonder . . . if the tree becomes infected, does the city remove it free of charge? Or is the home owner billed?

that is NOT the same as easylist and easyprivacy. they are both right there at the link provided in zep's post. Here it is just scroll to the 2 yellow lines and on the far right click on the add to ABP to add it to your ad block plus EasyList Subscriptions to get the latest dev build of adblock plus which seems not to have those issues go to this link and select the one titled 00latest.xpi which should be the 3rd line Index of /devbuilds/adblockplus/ after installing it in your firefox you need to restart firefox to activate it then get the subscriptions. you should be able to install that one then once you have that adblock plus installed go to that link I gave you for the easylist and easyprivacy and add those to it.

Why add it to OE if you want it in Windows Live Mail?
Is it an email address or account? If so-----Add it in Windows Live under contacts or account.

For account:
In Windows Live Mail, go down in the left corner and click on "Add an e-mail account" and follow the instructions from there.
Also, the Help feature gives you a step by step on how and what you should do.
In your Gmail account, make sure you have POP Enabled, IMAP, etc. etc. before you do your steps in Windows Live.

Urlee, looks like you have it down to a science here. "Smiles" I will print it out and see what happens.

zep516, I tried to go to your link but for some unknown reason it wouldn't open and then my computer hung up. So I shut down and restarted my computer and everything went back to normal. Don't know why it did that either. I haven't tried it since that happened it was getting to late and I needed to get off of the computer.

owbist, I do know how to place an attachment into an email but what I was wondering is how do these people do the video thing. I don't think I am making myself clear enough so please bear with me. When I receive an email (lets say from my niece) she sends me an attachment to a video and when I click on it the video starts playing in my media player. What I am trying to find out is: Did they create the .wmv themselves or are they getting it off of a website, then sending it to me? What I was trying to find out is how is the .wmv created? Do you need special software to do the videos? I know I am asking a lot of questions here but I'm not sure which is the right question. Ha!

.wmv files are created with lots of cameras both still and video cams and of course can be downloaded from many people posting them on the web.

I make some with a stantard usb webcam and Vista's / Programs / Windows Meda/windows media encoder. Pretty simple, only looks complicated.

I think Mikie is right, it might be pretty simple but the enthusiasm needs to be there. We created this in our living room with only 2 tries. The cameraman had only recently bought his digital movie camera and had no practice but we made it. The secret - which I do not know - is getting the file size down to an acceptable level without compromising the quality too much. Luckily my next door neighbour teaches graphic arts at a respected college and helps maintain 5,000 Macs, he reduced the file size for us.

Owbist I get a not valid link on your youtube link.

The person sending you the email can send just the actual link to a video that is hosted on some site such as youtube or they can embed the video itself into the email or they can attach the video file to the email. Doing the last 2 usually is not as good because those files are rather large and can really bog down some email clients, I much prefer to send just a url link to the video itself which is somewhere on the web. Hosting sites are available to store your videos on, youtube is just one of many.

I've read and printed out the information given here. It will help a great deal when I get around doing this. I want to make sure everything is operating normally before I start making changes. Again thank you for all your help.
