high quality/reasonably priced vessel sink and faucet?

We're just about to break ground on our new house and I'm in the midst of making a gazillion decisions. I'd like to put a vessel sink in my powder room and I'm trying to keep costs down. Has anyone here had any experience with Danze faucets and/or Dreamline vessel sinks? They both seem to be relatively inexpensive and I'm wondering about the quality. Can you suggest any other reasonably priced options?

I have three danze faucets purchased off of ebay. They're nice quality and the plumbers haven't whined about them at all (which means they're easy to install because I have lazy plumbers). The only faucet I did have issues with was made by "Allbrass" stay away from those. The valves aren't staight (we sent for another and it was worse than the one we got) so unless you have very good welders hanging around, you're in trouble (we own a business that employs a couple of great welders thank god or we'd have had to buy another faucet).

I haven't purchased Dreamline vessel sinks, but I did purchase a lovely onxy one on ebay as well as two double walled copper ones (from mexicopper). They're very high quality and the price was very reasonable! They're lovely to look at, but also made wonderfully.

Dreamline products are a bit overpriced, for my opinion, in comparison to other online stores that sell practically the same stuff but definitely better quality and better prices. You might want to try

Well, its been over a month and Alice has not posted her pictures, tee hee! Personally, I have fallen in love with the vessel sinks. I saw them for the first time a few years ago in an upscale restaurant (in red). Then, I saw them offered in clear glass which I thought would be hard to keep clean and shiny with no waterspots. But since then I've discovered them in granite and have fallen in love with different colors and veining. My daughter and I have a plan to get one in the bathroom on her level. We are replacing a 4 foot vanity that has some water damage and in other ways is past its prime. I have access to a brand new 4 foot vanity with no top. I'd like to get a piece of granite (and if not granite I'll settle for 6" ceramic tiles) and cut a hole in to partially recess a granite vessel sink. I have found several on eBay that are very affordable.

No. It's been almost 10 years since the remodel--the new sink is also 9" at the edges--and I definitely wouldn't want a deeper kitchen sink. I do have a laundry sink not so far away. I have a grid in half the sink, but it's only about half an inch tall. It's useful, but sometimes, I could like to have a shallower sink, or something like the reef in the Kohler...Stages? The one with the prep bowls. Fixtures aren't the place to scrimp. If you're changing a big element of quality with the inch, then maybe consider price, but in the normal scheme of things, I wouldn't guess more than a few hundred dollars difference, all else being the same. If so, unless your budget is under $10K for the whole shebang, take the difference out of the finishes, not the useful bits. Keep in mind that sinks are adaptable. If you have a reason for wanting that extra inch, go for it, because it's hard to adapt a sink deeper. OTOH, I have a couple of dishpans that fit nicely in my sink and make it easy to do traditional two bowl dishwashing. Turn one over and one has a platform which is next best to the built in reef. I also have a roll up, over the sink, dish drainer grid. When I just can't stand to lean over a tiny bit, it makes a great platform for setting dishes and pots on while I wash and rinse them. That's the big thing to keep in mind. Every inch deeper your sink is, is another inch lower you have to bend to pick up a dish. I say get the 9" sink. If you can figure out three good reasons why this is wrong and why you must have a deeper sink, then I must be wrong and you should get the 10". Good luck with your decision.

As others have posted, Delta and Moen make high quality relatively inexpensive faucets. Personally I would not want to go below their level of quality as they are reputable and have great warranties. This is especially critical for shower and tub fixtures which are not as easily swapped down the line if they fail as might be a sink faucet. In real life, people change kitchen and bathroom faucets but generally don't change bath and shower faucets unless they either fail or they are doing a complete remodel. Delta and Moen also have the benefit of enabling one to know that your rough plumbing will work with future Delta and Moen faucets. When I remodeled, aside from manufacturer, a major cost differential is style and finish - e.g. the same model faucet would be significantly more money in a higher cost finish.

There are many sellers on eBay with vessel sinks and fixtures and faucets. I found my unique sink on the "O" site - I don't think we're allowed to say the name here due to spam complaints in the past.

igloochic, what did you put your copper vessel sinks on? What type of vanity? I need something for a tiny powder room. And What finish do you have on your faucets to go with the copper sinks? Got any pictures?

I've posted this before, but there is a copper sink photo gallery available that might give you some ideas - I have placed a link below. There is also a good article on that same website about what to look for when buying a copper sink. I've bought from this company before and they were outstanding to deal with (and their pricing was a good value for the quality of products they sell).

There are many different types of vessel sinks. We even have two teak wood sinks in our master bath. ...it just depends on the look you want. More modern? Consider a glass sink. Rustic or "old world", consider stone or copper. I looked at the dreamline sinks. There are better priced onyx sinks on SinksGallery.com. I believe they are less than $500 and according to a friend that bought one, they will send you a picture of the exact sink you will be receiving (since they are all slightly different due to the nature of stone).

We have a copper sink in our kitchen and since we chose one of the darker finishes, we paired it up with an oil rubbed bronze faucet that we bought from the same company. Very pleased with the look and the sink/faucet.
