The gravy was spilled from the top oven and infiltrated in between the glass of the bottom oven door. Does anyone know how I can clean? Do I remove the door and unscrew the sealed glass door? Thanks for any help.

Thanks for your suggestions. Weissman, I don't think I've ever seen an oven wi/o a glass door. Sjhockeyfan, some ovens have the vent holes on the inside face of the oven door at the top, so when you open the door to take out a bubbling lasagna or apple pie, it can easily drip into those holes. It's not something I thought about until it happened to me. That drip drove me nuts for 6 months or so, until I finally called Kenmore to see if anything could be done. That's when I learned that you could unscrew the door to get to the inner layer of glass. I then wrongly assumed that you could do that with all brands and forgot about it. Until I began looking for a wall oven to go with a Bosch induction cooktop. I thought I had settled on the Bosch 500 when I read the review from women who had done exactly what I did with the Kenmore. Sure enough I called Bosch to confirm that you could not clean between the glass. That is a deal breaker for me. Laat2, even though taking the door apart was not the easiest, I was able to do it myself AND get rid of that darn drip! I just read another post saying that Bosch may be introducing a side opening wall oven in the Spring...maybe something to consider?

First of all, I absolutely disagree with anyone who says "don't self clean" - the vast majority of people self clean without any issues. I would, however, advise not self cleaning right before a time when you really need to use the oven and you won't be able to get a repair tech in for a while - for example, the day before Thanksgiving. It's not that self clean necessarily causes problems - but if it's on the verge of failing anyway, self clean will push it over the edge. Now, as for KitchenAid/Whirlpool. They used to have frequent self clean issues before 2009, but since then they have fixed the problem with design changes and better cooling airflow. Despite the problem being fixed, there are still isolated incidents of this happening, like with all manufacturers. Also, there are reasons that this can happen besides manufacturing defects or design flaws. One common problem I see these days is installers removing the protective cardboard cover on the bottom of the oven before putting it on the appliance dolly. Then, the ventilation duct at the bottom of the oven gets crushed. The oven gets installed, nobody notices, and everything appears to work fine at first. But once you get some serious heat, such as a self clean cycle, the oven will be unable to cool its internals properly and you will have issues.

"This is about as exciting as finding those little cardboard push ins that are at the end of aluminum foil and plastic wrap boxes." WHAT?!? How did I live to be almost 59 and not know this?! (And I just ran to my kitchen to check - sure enough there they are.) And just last week I dropped the roll of Reynolds Wrap, which unrolled about 15 feet, never to be rolled up smoothly again. Those little push-ins are a game changer!
