IE7 Comments

I like IE7 pretty much; but I find a couple of minor things to be bothersome. First, the bak files. It seems a few times a week IÂm emptying those from my recycle bin after I compact my email files (I know other people have mentioned the bak files on here). Are our computers going to be clogged with bak files after a year, or so?

Then, IÂve noticed something missing with the new IE Â with the ÂoldÂ IE6, you could right click on the ÂbackÂ and ÂforwardÂ arrows while browsing a website and go back, or forward, many ÂpagesÂ and click on a page you were previously viewing. This feature doesnÂt seem to be available on IE7 (unless IÂm missing something?). It sure made browsing more efficient Â now, I have to keep hitting the back/forward arrow until I get to the page that I want. (If you know what I mean?) Thanks.

I have a thing that cleans the browser cache that also dumps the trash. Rare I actually send something to the trash bin. Some installs do though.

IE back/forward button has a drop down arrow with some pages there, plus right there in that drop down is a link to immeadiate history... which has the long list of links to previous viewed pages. Seems to be all in order.

Only thing I have against IE7 is the dang menu bar wont skinny down to just the one url/address bar height & has the extra search box which is redundant as the address box searches perfectly fine.

Hmm, I must be missing something because none of that is there for me. When I right click on the back/forward arrows, I get a small drop-down menu with "restore, minimize and close" as the only available clickable options (the other options (grayed-out) are "move, size and maximize"). There is no listing of pages viewed, or a link to immediate history (except if I click on my favourites). I'm not sure why I'm not getting it.

IÂve noticed that, too. I tried the Âfull screenÂ option, but that of course, takes away all of the ÂbarsÂ. Thank you for your reply.

My new HP with vista slowed down and would freeze up after I loaded on Zone Alarm...I totally removed all signs of Norton..still slow...I would have to power off just to shut down computer or get to a new program. I was loosing icons..and programs...and then they would mysteriously return...only to disappear again...whole computer became very unstable.. Third call to the Costco Techs(luckily that's where I bought this computer)had me do a system restore with them on the phone holding my hand...this restore took be back to supposed "out of the box" factory condition... But I swear this "out of the box" was somehow different from when I first turned on the machine...I am wondering if this was a returned computer that someone had previously "dinked" with....anyway I very slowly and very methodically added back my bookmarks, favorites and email addresses using Windows email not outlook...and reinstalled router, printer, mouse, and external HD software. I logged each thing I did to this machine and each time checked speed...internet was good and holding...I downloaded and installed AVG freebie ..got rid of Norton trial that came with the HP...absolutely no more Zone Alarm..although it was great with my XP machine...then I loaded on program software like Office, Quicken, Quickbooks, and Turbo Tax. Cross my fingers...everything seems to be running ok..and as fast as my XP computer.

No argument as perhaps this is legitimate. That's why I insist on respect and politeness. However, since we have been previously victimized by posters posing as such and such I prefer to error on the side of caution. I used to use End it All on a regular basis...after IE7 you can't shut em down. Seriously, about the only thing that End It All could shut down was the Toshiba Pinger. Microsoft got hot and heavy about their background processes, I can't even turn off messenger's process. I can turn messenger off, but I can't shut the process. End it All was great...but it didn't do much of anything after IE7, so I uninstalled it.

Here is what I do with spam that I get. I use Outlook Express, XP home, and Firefox. Without opening the email, right click on the email. Left click on the Properties at the bottom of the box. This will bring up a box with a Details tab at the top. Click on the Details tab. Highlight and copy the Internet headers for this Message. Click OK. Now go back to the offending email and click Forward. Enter the appropriate one or more of the address listed below. Either before or after the spam message, paste the Details you copied above. Send the email I do this to most of the spam I get, although I don't get a lot. There is no feedback from most of the addresses below, but it seems that after awhile the email of a similar type stops coming. Hope this help some. Also hope I have typed all the addresses correctly. When I previewed this message, the spaces I had between the type of spam and the address disapeared, so don't include these words as part of the address: child porn, Investment & security, Prescriptions, Spam For child porm (thankfully I have never received any of this) c3@customs.treas.gov Investment & security enforcement@sec.gov Prescriptions webcomplaints@ora.fda.gov Spam knujon@coldrain.net Spam uce.gov Any comments, pro or con?

Actually it is one of the tools in a real old copy of Paint Shop Pro I use called predefined shapes, a partial vector tool, stretch/rotate/etc..
