When the scan finish's, that window has some tabs in it, the middle tab you need to open and put check marks on what you want cleared before you push the finish button.

I had the same question as Marian. I followed your instructions, Mikie, but I'm still stumped. I clicked the little + sign and a list appeared, all with boxes. I clicked on the Tracking Cookie box at the top, and it automatically checked all the boxes below. So far so good. But when I clicked on Remove, they disappeared and were replaced by the same Tracking Cookie with + sign. I repeated the above steps (more than once), but we seem to be in a never-ending loop.

mikie, there seems to be several people (including me) with the same problem deleting w/ Ad-Aware 2007. Are there any substitutes available more user friendly?

Bill, I switched to SUPERAntispyware and it has worked great for me. Be aware when downloading so you click the free version rather than the 'for a fee' one

I asked about that same problem last week and got this reply:
click on the second tab which has the number(of objects) showing on it, and it will tell you what these things are. Mostly they are tracking cookies and MRUs, so they are not really malicious. Still, I always choose to delete them.

That worked for me; those message boxes are so blurred I had not seen that number.

I have never found anything that adAware didn't remove when asked. Do you have Vista ? If so you may need to run it on an elevated level - Quick way is right click the program icon and select run as administrator.

You can also right click the icon, select properties and open source... Right click the programName.exe and toward the bottom of the Compatibilities window is a check box to always run this program as administrator.

Nope, I'm running XP. The never-ending loop is happening because the same list keeps appearing, even after I click Remove. If I click Finish, a box appears saying there are still unhandled objects, and asking if I really want to finish. I click No, but then I'm back where I started. I used to use AdAware all the time with no problem; this is the first time I've tried the new version.

XP login with administrator privileges ?

If you havent lately, You might want to run a current virus program, in safe mode.

The reason I say this is XP will instantly replace any file(s) that has hooked to a system file, which some badware does.

No administrator privileges that I know of. I was using AVG, but now use only Windows Defender, which ran at 2:00 A.M.

I tried running AdAware again, and this time it removed most of the files it found, but said it encountered a problem with some, and those would have to be removed after my computer was restarted. So maybe that was the issue? Hope so.
