I delete all that is found, but that's not much of late, the upgrade to Ad Aware 2007 has provided a very bulky, unfriendly tool. It isn't specifically for virus, it looks for cookies and other software that has been installed on your computer, most of which you don't want, and some can do damage, such as identity theft.

Like jerry mentioned, AdAware does not scan for viruses but rather for Spyware and other items like tracking cookies that you may not want. It's a relatively harmless utility and safe to use. Whatever it finds can be safely deleted and yes it's okay to delete them from quarantime though just to be safe you might want to wait a couple of days. Should it find something you may want back you can use the restore feature. The last I knew and I haven't checked in awhile is that it wasn't Vista compatible so I haven't put the 2007 version on my computer yet. I have read at different places that people are not happy with the 2007 AdAware.

Thanks so much for your help. One thing that is confusing me is, I do not know WHAT I'm deleting. How can I tell what I may want to keep later on? I just don't know the good from the bad because I don't understand what AdAware has found and is now in quarantine. Guess my question would be....what might I be deleting that I may want to keep? Boy, that a jumbled up, confusing post. Hope you know what I mean.
And one thing that just bounced around in my head----I don't have virus protection with this? Wah!!!

By all means make sure you have virus protection. Both AVG and Avast! have been recommended here. Either one is good, and both are free. Do a search using Google for the download site and download and install one or the other. Be sure to download the FREE version.

As to what to delete in Ad-Aware, I always delete everything it finds, and I have never had a problem.

Below are the 2 links grandms suggested for you. Please get an anti virus program installed sudden like, then instantly look for updated definitions followed by a full scan to give you peace of mind.

Why are you concerned about what nasties AdAware finds? Surely it is better to accept that it is doing an excellent job - as long as you look for updates often and runs scans. Simply click to have them removed, breath a sigh of relief and then enjoy other aspects of your computer.

and I run all 3 of those. I used to use AdAwareSE but when I upgraded to AdAware2007 I found it suddenly became a huge resource hog so I removed it. Rather than return to the SE version I went with the new AVG anti malware which previously was known as Ewido prior to AVG buying the company.

I, also have no idea what things, good/bad, these programs pick up, but I trust them. To play it safe, I leave things in Quarantine for a week or so and then delete. If the computer should start acting funny after a scan, you can then restore the stuff back. I've never had to do that with AdAware or Spybot.

I have with CCleaner when I've done a registry scan. But that is different from the spyware programs. Don't worry about it. I've never figured it out either. They are good programs and do a great job.
