LMAO...I remember when someone asked you (Remy) what browser you were using, and your reply was that you didn't know what a browser was... I too use/love Firefox...isn't it great? I like the ability to easily open so many tabs at once...maybe even opening my GW favs folder...25 all at once. Sure helps on dial-up to have a page loaded and waiting for me when I get to it. it kind of sucks to have to load a new program just to avoid annoying ads I agree, but you can beat them at their own game. Karyn, You'll probably like Firefox too. It is said that IE is the least 'secure' of all browsers. My experience with it, is that it is a lot slower...really notice 'slowness since I'm on dial-up. Rhodyman - I'm no computer expert, and I know there are other combinations that work for forum users, but unlike many who have made changes, I use IE7. Windows Defender free program for spyware. Symantec for virus protection. In Fall 2003, I bought Stop the Pop Up by Sureshot, a one time only fee of $20. The tech at my ISP said they had trialed 30, and this one worked flawlessly ( they don't sell it, so nothing to gain by the recommendation) I see no ads, banners, not ever a single solitary pop up on any site I visit including this one. No sounds. I just installed Spybot with the download file spybotsd160.exe. When Spybot loads, I see the following: -- Slugmeter labeled "Loading Spybot" -- "Legal stuff" message box: "If you remove advertisement robots with this program, you may not be allowed..." -- "Confirm" message box: "Spybot - Search & Destroy has detected that you have the following products installed: Lavasoft AdAware. This may cause incompatibilites; for more information, click Yes to visit our website, Ignore to no longer show this warning, or just Cancel." Here's the text from the website: "Compatibility: If you have the AdAware option to scan inside archives enabled, AdAware may find files in the Spybot-S&D folder. Spybot-S&D does not contain any spyware, but it creates backups of everything you fix (until you remove those backups from the Recovery list), and AdAware complains about these backups. I think it's pretty obvious where that's heading when adobe starts coming out with developer tools to let developers convert flash based content to HTML 5 instead. One thing, for many commercial sites with flash content (like big box stores or news sites) there's often an app you can download to use instead that gives you access to the same content. I don't care for this trend, since I'd rather access the whole internet via a browser, but this seems to be the way things are going with portable devices. I hate flash and I think it's used stupidly for no reason on about 85% of the sites that use it, but I agree it's vexing not to have it on iOS. breezy, if you see a thumbnail for that page, then it's cached and you'll keep seeing it. Try emptying the cache/history (in settings>safari) and see if that helps.
