should I uninstall?

I have the free AVG and AdAware 2007 downloaded. I have read quite a bit, (good things) about SuperAntispyware. Was wondering if I install Superantispyware would it be better if I uninstalled the other two or keep them all? I'm really not sure what AVG and AdAware are doing, if much of anything. I don't think it's necessary to have too many things running doing the same job. AdAware changed their instructions and I'm not sure what to do after the scan is done. Not too smart about the terminology.

ok AVG is an antivirus program unless you are talking specifically about the AVG program that was for spyware??
you need to clarify please. If AVG antivirus you do not want to get rid of your only antivirus program.

I have personally quit using AdAware, it used to be a super good program but in my opinion there are others that have now surpassed it and yes Superantispyware is the main one. I use it regularly, I also keep Spywareblaster
SpywareBlaster 4.1 on my system and update it weekly and enable all the protection. I do the superantispyware update and scan weekly also.
Plus I have my dedicated antivirus program that is always active.

It does not hurt anything to have the programs you mentioned all on your pc, you do not have to delete them but if you want to save room and are not using something then yes you can.

You do have a specific antivirus program that is running though right?

Thanks so much raven. I do have the AVG free antivirus. Whew!!! If I remember right, I downloaded AdAware to eliminate some of the spam that I'm getting in my email. Doesn't seem to do a really good job but I guess I don't know how bad it would be without it.
I am thinking of your recommendation for SpywareBlaster. Will look into it.
raven, I do envy you for all your information you help us with. The terminology alone throws me into a tizzy. It's so nice to have someone walk, or talk, us through it.

you definitely want to do any updates, many right now are for some pretty serious flaws that have been found so they are security related. Just be sure you watch for anything extra that may be checked to install like toolbars etc, you can uncheck any of those so they do not install, just get the program you want not the extras you don't want.

Thanks, I found the apparent problem. I removed my hubby as administrator (due to past problems) and for some reason it would not update under his log on. Once I logged on (as admin) it updated. Same thing happened with MB. Frankly, that shouldn't happen. He should be able to update these various programs without being admin...although he rarely does, thus the past problems! Jane

The spywareblaster is a very very simple little program it does not take up any resources and it does not have to be run as a scan all you have to do is remember to open it once a week hit the update button then hit the enable all protection button so the shield turns green. That is all takes about a minute tops. Then it just sits there protecting you from any bad stuff taking over your browser and blocks a LOT of bad stuff from happening. It is a very good thing. ;-)

NO LOL I like his music too! I am however 100% Cajun.

as to what you need to do with them just remember to once a week open them hit update and for spywareblaster once it is updated you simply hit that enable all protection button and you will see the shield turn green that means it is good to go do that weekly. with the superantispyware open it once a week hit update then hit full scan let it do it's scan then let it clean anything it finds.
