I haven't used Photobucket but Flickr adds a bunch of code you really don't need when posting an image as part of the message. All you need is the image tag. Just use notepad to edit out the extraneous code. I can't do it exactly because Garden Web will interpret it as an image but it is:

[img src="full URL to your picture"]

Replace the [ ] with . The quotation marks must be there too.

Ellie - are you putting your html code in the line below the box you type your text in? The one that says "Optional Link URL:" - if so, that is your problem.

You need to put the html code that you copied from the picture directly in to the text in the message box.

The picture will then show when you "preview" and post.

Ellie photo bucket has several lines of various code it gives, you must select and copy the correct one, and you will want to post the html forum code in the body of your post, Not down where it has the url link box below the post.
Do a test with each line of code provided till you find the right one if you have to.
If you are not seeing all the codes that is something you can turn on in the setting in PB.

Here is what you need to do to use Photobucket:

1. Make sure that the album you have the pictures in is set to "Public," not "Private."

2. Click on the HTML code box -- the third listing -- under the thumbnail picture; it will be automatically copied and then you can paste it into the body of the message here. (You can do this for as many pictures as you want.)

Here is what I get when I do this for three pictures in my Photobucket account:

When you tried to do this before, you might not have copied the code properly, but you could still see the picture you thought you posted because you were still logged into your Photobucket account. Once you would have logged out, you probably couldn't have "seen" the picture anymore.

Actually, if you are posting the pics within the message, it is not necessary to have the album set to 'public'.

I caution you on making your album public I never do that I want control over who views it. It works just as well when set on private.

If you select public then anyone at all can view all your stuff any time.

To separate pics, after you paste in the code for the first one, hit "enter" as you would to put a space between paragraphs of writing, then paste in the next one.

There is a practice forum you could go to and try a few things, then come back here and show off your new proficiency! Not trying to get rid of you...I spent time there myself years ago until I got it right...

That will do it. The first time I tried it was with just the HTML code, and they were so big that they ended up one below the other. This time I used the (clickable) HTML Thumb code so they are small enough to be side by side.

I set up my account so that it also shows the HTML Thumb code beneath the pics too. I think clickable thumbnail sized pics are especially nice for those still on dial up or those who internet speed is slower...like mine is.

I agree with your cautions about making albums public, but there is a simple way to deal with this. In my Photobucket account I generally have all my personal albums set to Private, and, when I want to share something in a forum, I create a new, Public album where I put in only the photos I intend for public viewing.

Well Ellie said she would be back on here Sunday to play with HTML codes, mixing things up a bit and using multiple codes together to make things bold and colored, and big, etc.

I had another member email me asking about instructions, so I typed them into a Google Doc. Would someone look them over and let me know if they appear right, and appear simple (enough)? I've looked at different sites on line and imho, none seem as simple as mine.
