Help! Ugly water spots on brand new Grohe shower fixtures
Comments (58)I had the same problem with my Hansgrohe polished nickle shower fittings. After forgetting to wipe the water dry after one use, the stubborn stains would not go away. I called the manufacturer several times and everytimes I had a different advise. First I tried blue original windex. Apprently Hansgrohe approves that product. it did not work. I also tried diluted vinegar, WD-40, as well as CLR (in diffent concentrations) none of them worked. I finally got a hold of Flitz multi purpose metal polish (in a tooth paste form) and it worked like a magic! Eventhough polished nickle was not one of the metals listed, but I decided to give it a try, since I was running out of options. Flitz is hard to find unless you buy it on line. I found mine in a kitchen and bath fixture shop. To prevent from happening the company recomands NuFinish (orange bottle only) . here is what hansgrohe sent me: To prolong the lifespan of your unit and keep it looking new we recommend the following care tips: 1. Regularly massage/rub the nodules on your hand shower/overhead shower/hand sprayer to keep water debris from accumulating on your water spouts. 2. Periodically soaking your unit in a 50/50 solution of warm water and CLR (Calcium, Lime, & Rust remover) for no longer than 10 minutes and then rinsing with fresh water. (this didnt work, But Flitz did) 3. Polish your unit with Flitz or NuFinish (only orange bottle). 4. Clean your unit with mild soap and water. Refrain from cleaning your products with any of the following: 1. Vinegar 2. Anything acidic (even organic products that have acidic ingredients) 3. Anything "no rinse"...See MoreBeautiful style couch but ugly floral print
Comments (66)Thanks guys! I will be slowly changing the place around. I also have a roommate and our tastes clash quite a bit unfortunately. His style is monochromatic and nautical and I'm more bohemian/vintage. I've made the decision to move to a single apartment with darker flooring this summer so I'll make sure to use your ideas in the new place. For now I will just make small adjustments with pillows and rugs. Your ideas have been inspiring and I hope to make an awesome living room....See MoreUgly little cottage needs a beautiful new kitchen. Layout thoughts?
Comments (21)laughable - I agree with you in that the peninsula that was there originally functioned well as a place for a second person to prep, a place to set dishes/food etc on and I like being able to stand there and look out the window where the only view is. We also cook all meals from scratch so there does need to be pantry space for this which saves us from having to transport staples from home. Herb- I appreciate your experience as a cottage user as well. It is possible we will be spending 5-6months at a time there in a few years so storage is important especially since the main living area is quite compact and there is not a lot of extra room for sideboards or other furniture type storage pieces. I would like to try and maximize the storage possibilities in the kitchen space. benjesbride - I could live with the corner sink if I had too. I would like to try working a peninsula into the plan, although the trade off is losing the broom closet in the plan that had the fridge at the end of the counter run. We can steal some space from the eating area to extend the main counter run a bit. Would it look odd to wrap a narrow cabinet on the stair wall from the pantry corner? That could be the broom storage....See MoreMaking an ugly colonial beautiful (or at least acceptable)!
Comments (13)how much do you want to spend? obviously paint, maybe new siding or shakes, and something w/the door/porch area. maybe a portico? landscaping? here are quite a few Garrison Colonials to give you ideas on coloring and what to do w/front door entry/porch. https://www.thenopressurelife.com/our-home/ I posted this one so you could see the landscaping. it will make quite a difference w/your house. if you went with all white and black or dark blue shutters. tan or taupe w/new white windows, no shutters, wood door teal colors,,this is beautiful. lime washed brick on the lower, gray shakes, white windows/shutters. and notice the entryway overhang and landscaping. white and black, but built on portico w/stone steps and porch, and brick walkway. black windows, no shutters, white siding and custom portico w/wood railing. at the very least ditch your 1960 iron railing and do something like this....See Moremillworkman
