Sorry I've not read or reread your earlier thread. My quick morning thought before any caffeine is there enough room for the toilet if you move the door. Have you physically stood / sat there to see if that would work for you? It just seems very tight to me. Are their any building codes that would prevent this?

I kindof like plan 1. Simply because plan 2 seems "heavy" on the vanity end. Also on plan 1 you have room on the wall for a smallish stylish storage type of item for towels, etc.

I'll think about it after the morning caffeine! Really both would be great.

I like layout 2. The toilet being more separate from the vanity is good. Plus, should you (or another owner) want dual sinks, it's possible with option 2.

I prefer plan 2. I'd rather have storage in and around the vanity than across the room behind the door. I also like more privacy for the toilet, which the door provides.

eaglemom100, there is enough room for the toilet if we move the door. The code is 30" and there would be that much space between the wall and the door molding. The toilet I will be using, a Toto, is 18" wide. There would be a window right next to it, and the door would be closed when anyone was using the toilet. I am thinking, though, that it might be strange to have a toilet behind the door.

clarosietoo, I agree that Plan 2 gives more space for a vanity.

weedyacres, storage is a real problem throughout our house. Our master bedroom (which does not have a master bath, by the way) is quite large, with a sunroom off of it, but it has only one standard closet, about 3' wide. There would not be privacy for the toilet, because when the door was closed, as it would be when anyone was using it, it would be open to the room.

I also prefer Plan #2.
The way you would walk into the room, you'd see the vanity and tub - generally, a bathroom's most attractive features.
Is there some reason why you couldn't do an L-shaped vanity with some upper storage?

I did not know that there were L-shaped vanities, sweeby. Do you have an idea where I could find one?

Lots of people use kitchen cabinetry in their baths, and they often have either L's or corner cabinets of some type or another. Or, you can have the cabinets made -- It's not as expensive as you may imagine.

To tag onto sweeby's suggestion, you could do your corner something like this (I understand it's bigger than what you've got, but it gives an idea). The side return part is 5 feet long but only sticks out 12" from the side wall, so it takes away minimal space from the vanity proper. And it gives you lots of storage. It's all assembled from Kraftmaid cabinets.
