OK, I was able to create a POP account through the account settings instead. For some reason it wouldn't work the other way through Outlook.com. The new POP account seems to be working properly - ie. the incoming emails haven't disappeared, and they've been the inbox for a few hours now. So fingers crossed. Don't know if I should have a POP account in the day and age of IMAP accounts; but it clearly wouldn't work with one POP account as the server and the other as IMAP.

Hi, I'm new here and hope I can help you out. This is how I retrieved my mail from OE from and old windows program to Windows XP Hopefully it will work for you. Back Up Outlook Express Messages Microsoft stores Outlook Express messages in a subfolder buried deep beneath the Windows folder, where it's nearly impossible to back up. That can mean disaster if you have a disk crash, or if you replace your PC. When you restore your backed-up data files, you discover that your email is gone! Fortunately, Outlook Express 5.5 (included as a component of IE 5.01 with Service Pack 1 and in IE 5.5) allows you to change the default location where messages are stored, making it easier to back them up with your other files. Follow these steps: Open your My Documents folder, right-click on any empty space, and choose New, Folder from the shortcut menu. Because you'll use this new folder to hold your mail messages, give it a descriptive name like My Mail. From the main Outlook Express window, pull down the Tools menu, choose Options, and click the Maintenance tab. Click the Store Folder button. This opens a dialog box that allows you to select the folder where you want Outlook Express messages to be stored. Click the Change button. In the Browse for Folder dialog box, select the folder you created in Step 1 and click OK. Note that the path to your My Mail folder now appears in the Store Location dialog box. Click OK to save this change, and click OK to the warning message that appears next. Close the Options dialog box, and then close and restart Outlook Express. All your message files are now in a convenient location in the My Documents folder. Back up the entire contents of your My Documents folder today and you'll be well protected from data disasters! Now that you have them saved in a new file...... Save on a disc just like you did your other files. In your new computer, Go to OE mail and open... Go to File..Import.. messages Select Program - Example (Microsoft outlook express 6) Specify location - Import from an OE6 store directory Location of messages - Browse to fine your file. Select Folders you want to import - Click Next and it will add them to your new Outlook Express. You can do just the ones you want or pick them all at once. Good Luck to you.

The nearest thing to Outlook Express in Windows 7 is Windows Live Mail. OE is no longer available in any version of Windows 7. Can't help you with your specific problems, but if I recall correctly (I still use OE on my old XP desktop), you cannot insert pictures into Windows Live Mail either; they have to be attached. This is supposedly for security purposes. I don't think it's possible to have music in e-mails, either. The "junk" mail issue should get better as Outlook "learns" what mail is legitimate. You might be able to set up a "white list" of senders whose e-mail should come into your INBOX rather than the JUNK. I have no idea about the encrypted e-mails, but perhaps someone who uses Outlook will be able to help.

I use xmarks on all of my computers it will ask you if you want to merge all the bookmarks from your various computers as you add it to each computer, if you want all of them to have exactly the same bookmarks say yes get your bookmarks all set up as you want them in xmarks. then once that is done go to one computer and you can run your AM deadlink it will tell you the bad links and doubles etc, fix it as you want on that one pc, when it is finished then tell xmarks to sync up and it will then change all of the computers and your master list on xmarks site to match that pc. Xmarks creates a personal webpage for you with all of your bookmarks listed so you can access your bookmarks from any pc anywhere by accessing your page. anytime you change or add a bookmark on any pc that you have synced through xmarks it will make the same change on all your others as soon as you sync them. It is an amazing little program and works for most all browsers, just be sure to select the proper one for the browser you are using. the reviews on am deadlink are varied for some it does exactly what they want others don't like it as well, I used it years ago to get rid of some old links and it worked ok. There are a few other options out there that do similar. You did not mention which browser you are using so I can't list any not knowing that. I would also be sure to check your browser version and make sure that am deadlink says it still works on that version especially firefox, I am not sure they are still updating am deadlink.
