tools/internet options/programs/e-mail?

2003DellDesktop4600/XP3/IE7/1.2ram/AVG. Accessing the Subject I get:

HTML EDITOR: Notepad

EMAIL: Corel Central, Juno, MSN Explorer, Outlook Express; Windows Live Mail; and Windows Live Mail (again)

NEWS GROUPS: Outlook Express, Windows Live Mail

INTERNET CALL: Net Meeting

CALENDAR: blank

CONTACT LIST: Address Book

I've switched from a JUNO e-mail to AOL e-mail. I'm trying to have AOL as my default e-mail throughout the Net. General correspondence using AOL is okay. But, when I try to send a "no phone number" e-mail to, let's say, someone that advertised an item for sale on Craigslist, I get a message saying to access AOL by going the tools/internet options/programs/email route. But, I'm limited to what you see above. I can't add to or change them. Seems I might have asked something similar to this before but I'm not sure. I'll appreciate your help. Gene

I've read several posts similar to this one and I don't understand what all the fuss is about. If I wanted to reply to a Craigslist email, I could do it in about 6 seconds with a few mouse clicks and not have to make any changes to the browser at all, nor would I need to install any type of a plug-in that might not be supported the next time the browser gets updated.

Right-click the Craigslist email address

Select Copy E-Mail Address with a left-click

Open a new Tab-go to your AOL EMail

Click Compose

Right-click in the To: field and left--click to PASTE the email address you just copied a moment ago.

What could be easier? Sometimes the problems encountered by users wanting to make everything work with one click are better solved by using what is already available to you. It's not that hard, and you just might learn something useful along the way.

Raven, I read about Spicebird on Kim Komando's site and downloaded the setup file to a flash drive using my desktop computer. When I went to install on the Windows 7 machine, it would not install, indicating I had a corrupt download. So I just downloaded Thunderbird directly and used it a good part of today. I haven't quite figured out everything about it, but it is working for me and all three of my web mail programs are working with it. I guess I'll look for a good tutorial and make sure I have everything set up correctly. I think there are some add ons available, too. It certainly beats Windows Live Mail.

at the top of the IE browser is the menu bar which has tools in it if the menu bar is not showing try right clicking up top on what ever bar is showing and see if you have an option that lists toolbars and put a check in front of menu bar. you might try this fixit and see if that helps The menu bar and the toolbar are missing in Internet Explorer on Windows Vista or Windows XP or in Windows Explorer on Windows XP Which version of IE are you now using?

I was a Netscape user also and was forced to change due to new features being added to web sites that was no longer supported by Netscape. I now use Thunderbird version 2.0.0.19 and I am able to clean forwarded messages, sometimes with difficulty. I have no problem with deleting plain text, but sometimes have trouble with text within a 'frame' or graphic images. My work-around for this is to move to the bottom of the frame and begin deleting from the bottom, or right-click on it and delete the whole frame. Usually, I can start a selection from the bottom and delete that portion. If the 'text' is really an image, the entire image has to be deleted. If all else fails, as mentioned by a poster above, you can select, copy, and then paste into a new email window. By the way, I was able to import all my old email messages into Thunderbird (from Netscape), as well as my address book. Thunderbird appears a little different to Netscape, but most of all the features are there.

Your are using Outlook no doubt? In my Outlook 2007 I open the program, click Tools, click Options. In the new window click 'Mail setup' then click the Send/Receive button and adjust to your heart's content. I leave my Outlook open and set to seek new emails every 10 minutes but do not allow it to seek them when Outlook is closed.

currious... does craigs list give user private addresses ? so sellers, & buyers too, don't get tons of spam.

Not that I have seen. Its always an alpha-numeric address@craigslist.org specific to the item being sold that Craigslist forwards on to the seller.

that is what I do also I copy the email address from the craigslist ad paste into a new blank email and compose the email and send.

Howdy. While trying to resolve getting my system to recognize AOL as the default e-mail I screwed things up a bit more. My File/Send/Page by e-mail; Link by email, etc, will not open. Any thoughts appreciated. Regards, Gene
