Jane, your wagon outside is so cool and I love your front hall entry, it wowed me. I'm going to guess that the larger pumpkins are real and the two smaller ones are the fakes. Your wreath is pretty and I love the little scared ghost on it.

Your arrangement in the pewter mug looks great sitting next to the fancy white pumpkin which I really like too. We have a picture of the family years ago in a wagon being pulled by horses so loved seeing yours with the pumpkins and other arrangement.

Will be looking forward to seeing your next post.

Great find on that pumpkin wagon, I can tell it has lots of wonderful details. Your decorations all look very classy, I like them all. Love the big soup tureen too--wish I had storage space for a couple of those myself. Your wagon sure makes a cute display for the pumpkins.

phonegirl, the Only pumpkin that was real in the wagon, was the large one on the left. The others are fake! Glad my wagon reminded you of your Horse & Wagon ride..that must have been a nice memory. I'm sure the wagon I have, has lots of storys to tell and I wish I knew some of them. lol

cindylouhoo...another observent eye!! Seems of all the decorations we have, that wagon is always a favorite. We got it last year at the big Flea Market, and used it last Christmas, and we haven't put it away since. We just keep changing what to go inside of it, with the season.

Betty..the shame of it all... since I've moved here from NY, I don't get to see too many friends or family. I used to have gatherings all the time, for all sorts of occasions...now, I have a Big Christmas Family Reunion...to 'Force' everyone to get together. Otherwise, everyone seems to be too busy to make the time. My friends...would rather meet me half way, when we get together. I've met some people here, but they are caught up in their jobs and families and it's hard making new friends. I honestly don't know how long we will actually stay here, as beautiful as it is...It's lonely, and I'm NOT used to that.

OMG, Jane, it's all drop-dead gorgeous! Every single thing is so pretty and elegant and just spot on. What color is your front door? The color is wonderful and that Fall wreath looks perfect on it! Everything is fantastic! And so many different settings, just lovely. My favorites are the front door wagon and the white pumpkin. My kitchen is all pastels, pink , green, yellow and blue,(which I adore) but it is very hard for me to find fall decos for the kitchen and morning room. White pumpkins would be great. Oh and after a second look, the giant nuts by the tureen are too cute. Syble

It's really something that your friends would want to only meet you halfway, seeing how gorgeous your home is!

When we moved to another state, over 800 miles from my one and only home area, I was a little concerned too over making new friends. We actually haven't found it hard to make new friends, and I was thinking about why. I came up with an answer--we're both tennis players and after we were settled in we hung around the tennis courts until we were invited to play (not long). I realized that this worked because you can't play tennis over the phone or do it by yourself. You HAVE to get together. I now have a regular weekly foursome and DH plays all the time, even with one of our neighbors. I think the trick is getting involved with a pastime that's participatory.

Our tennis community group has a supper club every two months and this month it's a Halloween costume party out in the country (I've never been to a costume party before, LOL!)

Keep plugging away...in that beautiful area where you are and with your beautiful home, I know I'd be a pest coming over, even if just to see what you were up to!

I'm so sorry about you missing all your family and friends and the gatherings you had. Must be very hard on you.

Thanks Magpie for your sweet advice. I wish there were some thing like that here, except for golf, but DH & I don't golf! Sounds like you found your 'niche' with a nice group of friends, and are very happy. That's so important.

Oh Jane this is breaking my heart. Can I give you some of my friends I don't have time for.LOL Seriously it has to be very hard to have a beautiful home and only share with your family and us here. You have such a wonderful sense of humor that I can't imagine you not being able to find some good people to have fun with. Do you work or have childre?

Friends and family are a must and I do not take the time to entertain much until my brothers show up (this year it was pretty much from Apr-Sept) and then we have what you could almost call an open house. Never no who will be here for dinner or after dinner and they cook so I Love It.

I've had the flu this week and it's amazing the friends I have calling who care. Sometimes they call twice a night and appoligize both times for bugging me. When someone gets upset at work I always say I don't need any more friends but thats not true. It's just that one can't please everyone and I do get tired of trying sometimes.LOL Too bad we live so far away and we could get together and you could teach me how to decorate.

You sound like such a sweet kind person, and I can see why you have so many friends who care about you, and that's priceless.

As far as family and friends...we seem to be all spread out.
I chose to move here after my mother passed away. My dad lives near by and doesn't want to go anywhere. My brother is in Boulder, and is in his on 'world'. So, it's really just me. My Dtr and her kids are now back in NY, where we originally lived.
I did work at a job I loved, in a Private Montessori School.
I would move back in a flash, if the Economy was better in selling off this house. Also, if my father would move too.

So, I'm making the most of my time, ejoying this site with my 'Cyber Friends'. I do get together with my 'other' friends...not too often though, but I do enjoy getting together with them and they are great friends. Just far.

Once again...you are so sweet to 'offer your friends' ( I actually laughed at that) ...and you as well..I'm sure you'd be a good one too.

You are a sweetheart and thanks for your reply. It made me smile that I could make you laugh. It's great to hear you helped DD and I'm so excited for you to have DGS to play with for a few days. How old is he?

I have one GS, 8 years old and one GD, 4 years old. The only thing that would be better is if I had a dozen.

I had this little girl come into the office and I had never seen here before. She walked around the counter and ask me if she could go home with me and if I would fix her spaghetti for dinner. Isn't that priceless?

The little girl has red curly hair and reminded me of Lil Orphan Annie. Her mom looked so surprised and said she had never done anything like that before. Since then I have seen her a couple times and she always wants to sit on my lap. Could be cuz I always have a treat for her since that happened.

Sorry I don't always get back for several replys but you too have touched my heart.

Punk..my DGson is just 12. He's such a sweet boy, very bright and very creative. DH and I enjoy sharing him. We each do different projects with him and he likes all the attention. It's good for him to get away every once in a while. He's the oldest of 4.. and the youngest is 5!

Your 2 are at a great age. I can understand you wanting a dozen!! They are a joy.

I smiled when you wrote about that little girl and how she took to you. What do they say about Children & Pets?
She gavitated to you, probably because of your friendly, non-threatening nature. You made her feel comfortable. I feel it's such a compliment from a child, when they openly accept you like that.

Well, I hope you're feeling better now, and are back to painting all your lovely things.

I bought that mirror about 6 years ago, from Bombay.
I does have an old 'flair' to it.
They only carried it for a short time, and then it was gone.
I must have bought about 6 mirrors, throughout the years, from them.
The quality and style of their stock, was always so unique.
I was so sorry to see that store chain close.

Jane I got curious about the wonderful little Dept 56 wagon with the pumpkins. Looked it up. It was done in '95 and now retired, was called the Harvest Wagon.
Its selling now on eBay and on Internet sites for $40 to $60. Boy did you get a FIND in this piece!

Karen... WOW!! I had no idea.
I know Dept 56 has pricey items...but had no clue on this item.. This WAS a great deal.
When I saw it at GW, DH had just gone down the same aisle, but missed it (man's shopping). I followed behind him, and spotted it right away. He was so surpised that they even had it there and of course the price.

The other day we went into one of the little shops in town, where they have a large display and selection of Dept 56.
DH likes to go in there before Christmas to see if there's any retired pieces. They're usually discounted.
Well, ALL of Dept 56 Christmas was 50% off. When we questioned the owner..she said she was not going to carry it anymore. There is not much interest anymore from customers, as in the past. We saw the same thing this Summer, in Cape Cod...many of the stores who would have large displays...either cut back on stock or did away with it completely.
We are so disappointed to know, this might be another hobby that will be a 'thing of the past'...just like Train Sets under the tree. :(

I definitly LOVE the dept 56 display! It's wonderful! We for sure must have such decorations available here! Maybe I should look how to become their number one import in Belgium :)

Jane, I imagine Dept 56 items will stay 'hot' on eBay. Too many folks are real collectors of them. So even if stores stop stocking, they won't disappear. And hopefully folks (ME too, ME too) will luck up on pieces at TS like you did.
I often go to eBay just to look up information and pricing on something I've seen or bought. Its a great source of information, as is google.com! Of course I tend to buy on eBay so its more dangerous than google. LOL
