some Fall decor on top of my china cabinet

I have a huge ol' antique china cabinet in my entry hall that you see just as you come in front door. I decorate it for Xmas, but after seeing all the ones here, I decided to add some Fall decor to mine this year. I didn't move my large dog statue, LOL. Tho I do for Xmas. I also put some stuff on top of a smaller curio cabinet in my familyroom.

For a couple of you bunny lovers, I took a photo of my bunny shelves in the familyroom, and some of my living/dining room rearranged, with new round table and console table in it. These are in one of my regular albums.

This photo is the top of a small curio with Staffordshire whippets and rabbits in it. The bottles were handpainted by a friend, they have whippets on them.

Since Karen has been busy this week, and hasn't gotten back here, I will try to help with tipsy pot directions. You need a six foot piece of rebar which can be purchased at Lowe's for around $2.00. You also need pots in graduated sizes, ie: 12 inch, 10 inch, 8 inch, etc. Just pound the rebar into the ground about 18 inches then slide the largest pot onto the rebar through the hole in the bottom of the pot. Fill with potting soil. Now slide the next largest pot onto the rebar, but tip it to the side a bit. (A rock will help support it at the angle until you get the next pot on.) Continue sliding the pots on and alternating the way you angle them then fill them with soil and plants. Vining plants look really good in them. Be careful when watering so that you don't wash all the soil out, and know that they do dry out fairly quickly so you will want to water frequently. (Unless you use Karen's great idea of using silk plants!) If you check on the Garden Junk forum and just type "tipsy pots" into the search box, you will find lots of them. Some have used metal buckets, some plastic pots, some teapots, etc. to make them. The fun part is all the comments from visitors who are amazed at seeing what looks like just pots balanced on top of each other! ;o) Luvs

Kathleen, Could you package some of your energy and mail it to me? Your goodies look delicious. What a lucky friend you have and such a labor of love. I just know your friend will be over the moon when she sees the cake. I am heading to CF right now for the apple pie recipe. I love to cook and that forum lead me to this one. Baking might must keep me busy enough so tht I am not looking for and purchasing more dishes. LOL DH is going to scream if anymore dishes enter our home. He's already worried the cabinet in my office is going to come off of the wall from the weight:,). Keep posting, you are an inspiration for those of us who like to cook/bake as well as decorate our tables!

Thanks, Holiday-ers! I'm not here often enough either ... such a good forum with caring folks ... Happy Thanksgiving to you all & thanks for your comments! luvs ... so good to hear from you & glad you friended me on FBk .... I hardly use email anymore ... most chatting done on FBk plus I'm one of the administrators on the 'Flea Market Gardening' Fbk page ... you all know I'm a gardener @ heart! Time slips away very fast! ~~hugs & today I got to be outside for a few hours with some volunteers ... my dear hubby & I cut branches from our pines & collected cones & decorated some of the flower urns in our small town but this old green wagon @ the Heritage Park garden lots ... we also put up the barnwood tree there today ... removed frozen pumpkins, gourds & mush since it's been freezing temps for a few weeks now ! Jane, just read your post about your "RASH". I surely hope it is not the shingles. I wouldn't wish what I have been through this past month on anybody. Too start with, I had a terrible ache in my lower back. It had been so rain and damp that I just attributed it to arthertis. After about a week, I decided that I needed to see a Dr. They done a uranalius and said I dhad a UTI. and gave me antibotics for it. Then a few nights later I woke up with such awful pain that I couldn't get eased any way that I went to the ER. They thought I had a kidney stone and I went upstairs for a scan, which didn't show any stones but diverticulitus. I was given intravanious pain med and more antibotics and sent home. After a week of antibotics and strong nartocic pain meds, I was back in the Er ... another pain shot and more antibotics.. The next Mon I had to go back to my FP for another Uranalis and told the nurse that my hip felt so strange. like it was numb, She said to let her take a look, and said did you realize that you were breaking out in a rash on the right side of my back. Nooo.....I can't see the right side of my back and it didn't itch, just hurt. Well, she said YOU HAVE GOT THE SHINGLES!!!!. Then I got antivirals, which didn't help much because they are supposed to be taken early on and I wasn't diagnoised until I all ready had a full blown case. I am just starting to feel like I want to live again. Haven't felt like doing anything. Swept the kitchen this morn and just broke out in a cold sweat. I haven't done any decorating ,let alone any house cleaning. Guess halloween will just have to pass me by this year. Is your rash confined to one side or all over. They told me shingles usurally just affected one side of your body, but you cold have them anywhere, from one side of your head to one foot. Sure hope that's not what you are getting. They did tell me in the ER that it seemed like fall was when they saw more cases of the shingles. Yep, Kathleen, have a small stepstool ladder. And I'm learning to be more careful these days, thanks to darn right leg issues. I am a bit klutzy to my chagrin.

Thank you for nice comments on my "dog house" everyone.
I am over the top with my whippet/greyhound collection.
Around 300 statues of every size, and 10 china or curio cabinets in all. Tho 3 aren't dogs. LOL.

Karen, your new areas of fall decor look wonderful. I love the black/orange pumpkin plate in the background of your kitchen counter display.

How nice of you to share a tour of parts of your home "dog house" with us! It is lovely and very inviting. The burgundy wall is very dramatic - love it! Your bunny and whippet collections are terrific. (Do you still collect the whippet items, do you still get them for gifts, etc?) I loved seeing your decorated stacked plates on your table in a couple pics - they look great! Thanks for sharing!

Betty, I found the little candleholder at GW last Fall.

And DD, the plate you like was at Marshalls then too. I don't do much collecting on the dog stuff anymore. I've been collecting it for over 30 yrs now. Just occasionally I see a piece I really 'need'. LOL. I have to work on controlling my rabbits tho, no room for me to get to get really carried away like with the whippets and my Trail of Painted Pony collections. I just like too much STUFF, and always have. Even as a child, I loved collections.

Thanks for the nice compliments on my house. I know sometimes its quite a shock to see someone so obsessed with dogs.

Karen, all your decor inside looks beautiful & very professional. I have to say, we've come a long way, well some have, not sure about me!!! And, have to say thanks to Judith for being our loyal teacher!

The whippets do fit in so well & make for very rich looking settings!

Karen, I'm a clutz too, wonder if that has contributed to our back problems over the years? I am constantly tripping, stubbing toes etc...

You can have anything you want...it's all beautiful!!! But if you have 7 of the real thing, we need pictures of them too!!

Yep, 7 Whippets. And 5 cats. As I said the whippets have the den on one end of the house as theirs, with dog door access to the backyard.
I haven't done any breeding in 6 yrs, I never liked selling pups. In fact I only had 7 litters in 35 yrs of owning and showing whippets.
All my dogs and cats are in an album, you know me.
