Yes - we did in our old house. (Rochester, NY) It was a 1920's house and the tub was original...enough said. But it was really still beautiful. We reglazed it and it looked and worked wonderfully. Our guy had something like a 10 year warranty I believe...

But we did "baby" the tub afterwords. We never left bottles on the perimeter. And for a month after it was done, we toweled dried the tub (as per the instructions). This was quite humorous actually because I was 8 months pregnant at the time. And our 1920's tub was deep, so it really wasn't that easy to do. But after that we did not have to dry it.

It did not chip, when we occasionally would drop a bottle or two. And it stood up to suction cups of the mini-bath tub my daughter used when she was a baby.

I would do this again in a heart beat, if I had an old tub worth saving.

Our cost was only something like $200 as well. Give or take $50...I can't quite remember.

No, but my old house had a tub that had been reglazed and it was peeling/cracking. I don't know how long it had been since it had been reglazed, or whether it was done properly in the first place, but I can tell you that white peeling off of blue looks much worse than just a plain blue tub :)

We stripped and reglazed our old claw foot last week. It had been reglazed 20 years ago and it stood up very well, considering I used Comet on it for five years (don't use Comet!). The same guy who reglazed it the first time did the second reglaze and he's returning to polish it next week.

We're pleased but don't have the supply lines so it's not hooked up yet. It cost $575. for the job.

I asked if I could dye my hair and rinse the dye out and he did not recommend it but he was going to do an experiment with hair dye and get back to me. No one had ever asked him that question.

Does anyone here rinse hair dye out in a reglazed tub?

Any good companies out there? We're looking into this too.

I had my old, green tub reglazed and made white. Its beautiful and looks brand new. If you would like a photo, let me know. It cost me $400.00, well worth it!

when we re-did our bath,we bought a new cast iron Koler tub that was much less priced than a total bath reglaze.

pkspigs, it's not generally the cost of a new tub that leads people to reglaze - it's the cost of replacing the tile surround or redoing the plumbing. Tubs aren't very expensive but tile, tilers and plumbers sure are!

We reglazed our tub a few months ago. For us, it was a huge improvement because our tub looked BAD. But I'll be honest and say I don't have a lot of faith that this will look as good after five years. I already managed to scratch the finish in one place with a caulk remover because our guy missed some old caulk. And we definitely need to get our tub spout fixed because it leaks a bit and I can bet that the finish will probably end up wearing off around the drain at some point.

We were quoted prices from $275 to $400 and told one other company was $500. I'm happy with it. Other than that first incident, which was my fault, there have been no problems. I think your happiness level will probably depend on how bad your tub is, and whether you have money for a total re-do at this point. For me, it was a great solution; I'm no longer embarrassed should someone enter my bathroom and the shower curtain not be completely closed - and I don't have the money yet to replace all that lovely (NOT!) 1940s peach and black tile.
