We are in the process of building another new home...but this time it has to be handicapped accessible, but since we are both senior citizens and have arthritis problems, I know it won't be too may years until it will have to be sold, but I also want it to appeal to the "younger" generation when that time comes. I know about the wide doors, hall ways, levered door latches, walk-in shower,no steps, etc. but this house must also be easy to maintain. I am leaning toward using white appliances because from what I have read, they are much easier to keep clean..I don't want to be a slave to fingerprints...would that be a mistake? I am going to do hardwood flooring in the kitchen, because it is easier on the legs, and some other parts of the house, but I do like the softness of carpet underfoot also.

What are some other things I need to consider to make this house very easy for me to keep up, as well as keeping it "sellable" in the years to come?
