This is an interesting thread. I use Seventh Generation Free & Clear and am pleased with it. I can't stand scented things, though I have no allergies, it's just a pet peeve. Like Brencbg said, why would anyone want perfume in their dish soap. I recently had my stone tile floors professionally cleaned and polished (they are 24 years old, and the grout had 24 years of dirt in it). The company instructed me that I should clean the floor mostly with just water and a sponge, but if I had to use soap, use an unscented dishwashing liquid. When I showed him my bottle of Seventh Generation, he said I couldn't use it on the stone tile because it has citric acid in it and would etch the stone. I looked on the ingredient label, and yup, there was citric acid. Who knew? He recommended the Dawn Pure Essentials that was mentioned above. When this bottle of Seventh Generation is finished, I will give the Dawn Pure Essentials a try, but sigh, I do like my Seventh Generation DW liquid.

I am having the same issue, sort of. For example, I bought some laundry soap the other day. The boys brought it into the house rather than leaving it in the garage. It sat on the counter for a few days and the smell was gagging me! I have never ever had this problem before! I don't notice my clothes having a smell after I was them, just the soap in the box. I don't smell it in the laundry room either. But that is probably because the 5 dogs sleep in there sometimes. I also had an issue with the bag boy at the store putting my dryer sheets in with a loaf of bread. The bread smelled so bad to me I could not eat it. I had one piece and I swear to you it was like licking a perfume bottle. I am going towards non-scented things more and more. Trish

I have always preferred bar soap, and I mean soap not some detergent bar. I have made my own-love coconut oil based soap with mint scent. Very creamy bubbles. Elsewise I use Hard milled lavender. I have watered down dish washing liquid to use at sinks for hand washing for thirty years or more. Dawn or Palmolive typically. Very effective for removing bacteria. I prefer to pay for my emollients separately since the point is to trap water in the skin surface. I have always wondered how soap which is designed to grab on to fat for instance will leave the fat behind when you wash with a soap with extra emollients built in.

A suggestion.. gloves in gloves. I wear a lot of gloves, from the good blue ones for toxic hot peppers down to doeskin that needs talcum powder to fit for the day. Health reasons, and also decades worth of reactment wearing gloves. Around town as a set of gloves. Instead of subjecting your skin directly. Consider washing and sanitizing your hands with plastic/neo/latex on like it was your regular skin. Wash and sanitize your gloved hands just like you would your open skin hands. Use/dispose of these gloves responsibly. Thin cotton gloves are a godsend for lining those non permeable gloves and also helping lock in hamburger hand treatments during the day. Depending on how you use your cotton gloves with hand treatments, they can be washed and reused many times.
