Liquid Soap vs Hand Lotion
Comments (5)I don't use pump lotion. My favorite lotion doesn't come in a pump. However my soap dispenser is always white in both the bathroom and kitchen. If I were to keep both I would make some of those beaded glass identifiers that they use for wine glasses, with a big bead in the center that I could write either an L for lotion or a s for soap. They have gold or silver pens that would work for that, just make sure the bead is not too glossy or it won't take the ink. They could even match the rooms decor. Anyway that's my idea. If you like it then go for it...See MoreLiquid soap containers turn the color of the soap??
Comments (8)Thanks to all who responded, I thought it was possibly the metal in the containers, but it's most likely the soap from what "Sweeby" says. I'll give the Dial clear liquid a try, it's less expensive than replacing all the containers throughout the house....See MoreBar soap into liquid pump soap
Comments (6)Three decades ago when liquid soap for home use was "new", I would save bar soap slivers and small hotel soaps and make them into liquid hand soap. Now it's less expensive, and less mess, to purchase gallon jugs of liquid soap (Sam's Club and Big Lots are good sources). For foam dispensers I use a 1:3 mixture of liquid soap and water, so we use all foam dispensers for even more savings. The recipe I used is very similar.... Homemade Hand Soap 11 c. water 1 bar soap (or enough slivers to equal the same amount) 1 T. glycerin optional - 10 drops essential oil Grate soap on a box grater, microplane, or in a food processor. Bring 4 cups water to a boil. Add grated soap and stir to a boil. Add grated soap and stir until it melts. Add glycerin. Add remaining water. Once cooled, add essential oils. Let mixture sit overnight. Place 2-cups (at a time) in a blender. Mix well. If you want thicker add 2 more T. glycerin and allow to sit for a few hours. To use in a foam pump dispenser, add 1/4 c. homemade liquid soap and water to fill the bottle. You can add tea tree oil or grapefruit seed extract, or other essential oils like Four Thieves for additional anti-bacterial protection. HOMEMADE BODY WASH 1 c. Suave Shampoo ("flavor" of choice) 1/2 c. water 3 T. table salt or Epsom salts Whisk until frothy. \-Grainlady...See MoreLiquid hand soap
Comments (3)My sister wants me to try to make some Kitchen Soap in a liquid. I was wondering about the coffee grounds, though. I was thinking of using a suspension shower gel base (in the hopes that it would suspend the coffee grounds). What do you think? Do you think a shower gel base would work? I have had several people ask me about the Kitchen Soap in liquid form; I guess I am going to have to play around with it, but I was stumped about the coffee grounds. A shower gel base is pretty thick (especially the suspension ones) and I am not sure if it would pump out right. My sister told me that she bought some liquid hand soap somewhere- she thought it was Bath and Body Works- that had herbs suspended in it. Have you ever seen anything like that? (I think my sister shops too much! LOL.) Susan...See More- 7 years agolast modified: 7 years ago
