Painted asphalt driveway - anyone have any photos?
Comments (18)Yes, have had experience with street print asphalt when serving as grounds committee chairman on a large southern plantation. As plantation roads needed resurfacing we had the simple brick pattern print asphalt installed to delineate golf cart pathways across the roadways as an additional safety measure. The price was right. Many residents mentioned to me how much they liked the idea. The process had just been introduced and the company installing it was looking for a showcase spot. Then the downtown area began using the idea for cross walks in its revitalization projects. Very attractive addition to the street scape. Visited there last month and all seems to be weathering well. However, before using this method on a major driveway surface I would want to meet with a company rep and visit some of their large installations....See MoreConcrete or asphalt drive in Alabama
Comments (9)We're in Alabama and have always had asphalt until we built 5 years ago. DH and our GC both wanted to do concrete. Last longer. Asphalt is a wearing surface and won't last as long w/o upkeep and will have to be done over. Concrete lasts "forever" if done right. Our neighborhood has both, but driveways have to be tinted charcoal (looks like asphalt) where seen from the street. The charcoal tinting is very expensive. The rest of our driveway and turn arounds are ochre (buff color). It was less than the charcoal and looks better than raw concrete, imo. The concrete does not get as hot as asphalt. Do a broom finish and let leaves fall on it while it hardens - makes impressions that are pretty. We covered ours with plastic and kept wet while it cured - poured in September when temps are still high. Keeps it from cracking. Whichever you decide, do a good job on the base or neither will last long. Here is a link that might be useful: our house...See MoreAsphalt driveway
Comments (4)Thank you. I have a company coming that I trust, I know the owners and have used them before. My garage floor is terrible as well and I may do that at the same time (concrete). Not sure how it was done but the floor is about 1" of concrete, has wood planks under it and has more cracks than one could imagine. I don't know how the inspector did not catch it and I did not (12 years ago). So this will probably be done at the same time, same company if possible. I think if I do it that way I may get a slight break. The garage quote I got today was $2700 but he said he thought he could get it approved at $2.3K, I know $2K is probably realistic, and with the driveway asphalt I will see what I can do, but I have to use a company I feel good about. This garage door, opener project has really grown to be overwhelming and now I think I am looking at a total of $7-8K...See MoreNeed To Redo Driveway- Asphalt, Brushed Concrete or Aggregate?
