It sounds like you are going to have a nice time with your GD, I don't blame you a bit for sending her a card, she will love the stickers too I am sure. It is still exciting to me to get a real card in the mail its like receiving a "minigift". "Card emails" are just not quite the same. In fact a few days ago I went out and purchased a bunch of pretty and fun stationary to be able to write short letters every now and then, talking on the phone is great, but I think it will be fun for my family to receive a really pretty matching envelope and note paper in the mail with a short note from me. Sorry, I got off the subject a bit. (blush)

Well, I'm not having company this weekend, in fact I have been invited to my neighbors house for her SO's birthday, so I shall definately eat and drink well tomorrow LOL.

I'll be doing a table soon, I am finishing up with putting together my pink table from the new plates from Target, gosh I don't know what it is with me and pink lately....

If all goes well with the rest of my ideas I will try to have a couple of Easter table settings for April, there are just a few things I still need to pull together for that.
(I have to hit a few stores in the "further" towns to finish off my looks, I've been to 3 Targets so far....) I also tried to talk my DD into taking me to Home Goods this weekend, but I did not have much luck there, she is not as nuts over Home Goods as I am-perhaps she was switched at birth??????

Luvs, how sweet to send a real card to your GD. How old is she btw? I'm sure you'll enjoy your dinner with her.
We don't do anything for St Paddy's. I never even thought about it till those darn stacking plates. Even tho I'm mostly Irish, corned beef and cabbage wouldn't go over in this house! my two grown sons and their kids going out of town, different directions.

Luvs, I know you will have a wonderful St Paddy's Day with your DGD and DH. My son will be marching with his JROTC in a St Paddy's parade today then has to come home, change clothes and get to work so we will be having our St Paddy's meal pretty late so no company today. I do have my table almost setup and will take pics later today. I just have to put out the silverware.

Judith, I hope you find the rest of what you need to finish your Easter tables. We look forward to seeing your pics. I understand the "switched at birth" comment. My DD cares nothing for the decorating I do. LOL

Karen, My DS loves corned beef and cabbage, but not DH. My son has given all meat up for Lent so we won't have the corned beef and I just can't quite see fish. I'm going to make cabbage and potatoes the way my grandparents did and will make Kathleen's Irish Flag soup. Kathleen sent me the recipe for her Irish Soda Bread and I made that Thursday night. I highly recommend it to everyone. It is delicious. And of course, I'll be making shamrock cookies with "Leprechaun poo" today. In fact, I'll be getting started on dinner in just a little while in case DS should have enough time to eat before work.

I was supposed to babysit so step granddaughter and her mother could go to NYC ..SG was supposed to march in the parade but her trip cancelled due to snow so I am home. I made soda bread on Tuesday for my sons and their familys and us. Tried a different reciepe ..different consistancy and the corned beef is cooking as we speak.

It is mighty icy here, and it doesn't look like we will get much melting, which means travel will be difficult. We are watcching the big parade in NYC, and I feel for those little ones marching in this cold and wet!!
Luvs, I found some "expanding shamrocks" in Le Gourmet Chef after St. Pat's Day last year, so I sent them in the card to the 3 grandkids. You put them in water and they grow, then shrink as they dry! LOL. Hope they have fun with them. Grand d takes Irish step dance lessons..too funny Have fun with your gd, mine live 90 min away so they won't be traveling in this mess!
Judith, have a good time at your neighbor's party, always nice to go and enjoy. She probably is intimidated to have you, knowing how you fuss for parties!! I would be a wreck setting my table if you were a guest!!!
Sandi, hope you are feeling better, and sorry you won't get to see ds march in the parade.

Kareen, I've never heard of Colcannon before. I'll have to check that out. It's just potatoes cut into big chunks boiled with cabbage and seasoned with bacon drippings. And you can add the canned corned beef to it. I had to cook some without the corned beef since DS is not eating meat during Lent.

OK, I checked out Colcannon. I've had it before, but never knew it by that name. But no, that's nothing like what I cooked although it probably tastes similiar in the end. We leave the cabbage in huge pieces also and when we put the cabbage and potatoes on our plate we kind of separate the potatoes, mash them on our plates and add lots of butter to them. I guess that's poor Irish cooking, but it sure is good.

We're headed out for DH big appreciation dinner, from his work, tonite. It's a big gala affair at the country club & doubt they'll have much green or Irish there, but it's always great food & entertainment too. We are having lobster, you can choose from 4 entrees, and I don't have to cook!!!

Anxious to get all my Easter out now that St. Paddys is almost over!!

And we are anxious for you to get it all out too Yacheter! LOL You know we love the eye candy. Know you will enjoy your night out and the lobster dinner.

Kareen, this time of year plans often have to be changed, don't they? Better to be safe than venture out in that bad weather. Nice to be home and warm and cozy.

Sandi, didn't know you weren't feeling well--hope you will still get to enjoy your dinner. Your home certainly looked festive for St. Patrick's Day. Great job!

Kathleen, those expanding shamrocks sound like lots of fun--know they will enjoy them. Had a good time with little GD today. She will be three the middle of May. It was nice and warm today here, so I let her play with the water and her sand--she just loves that! She and the two dogs did lots of bubble chasing too! So cute to watch the three of them.

Sounds like everyone had a nice St. Pat's day in spite of a few obstacles. We all just have to make the best of each situation and find pleasure in the little things.

Next comes Spring and Easter decorations---Yahoo!

Well, we went to DH's work dinner & we're surprised by the entertainment. It was the Trinity Irish Dancers, they were on Good Morning America this morning & also have been on Martha Stewarts show & have won 24 National titles, so the entertainment was GOOD!

A friend & I wanted an Irish Coffee to finish off the evening but the bar there said they couldn't make them!

Other than that, we had a very nice time, they also have a dance band after the meal.

Now on to the EASTER TABLE decorations! Yeah, I've been waiting to try my hand at this!!
