Green Brings a Room to Life
Celebrate St. Pat's With the Freshest Color in Design
On St. Patrick's Day, it truly is all about green! And what a great color when used in interiors, one that is equally at home in modern spaces as it is traditional rooms, with the ability to bring a space to life. Here are my favorite examples:
The steel frames on this stunning wall of glass becomes even more striking when showcasing a brilliant green.
Here green is used in nearly a shocking fashion. Mint green walls, chartreuse pillows and a throw mixed with vibrant Kelly green foliage adds up to a dramatic space.
Green paired with blue, seen on the majority of these furnishing and accessories, creates a fresh and calming environment in a room featuring white walls and flooring.
Designer Tineke Triggs loves to challenge clients to use color, and here she did so with success. This laundry room featuring lime green cabinetry is one of the client's favorite rooms of the house.
A little touch of green enlivens a white bathroom through towels and patterned panels lining the height of the walls at either end of the bathtub.
A bright green above white wainscoting really pops. Just a touch of the color is repeated in rug placed alongside the freestanding bathtub.
Here green used in the most classic way: on gorgeous wallpaper in a traditional dining room. It's quite dramatic against the black-and-white checkerboard flooring seen in the entry.
Green bedding, a green glass lamp and an upholstered bench introduce a contrast to the browns and taupes in this bedroom, with a serene and beautiful result.
Green is a great choice for the walls in children's rooms. Bedding and accessories in primary tones adds a visual punch to the design.
Pale green walls in a girls bedroom is mixed with a range of greens seen in the art, on fabrics, the large letter 'A' and accessories. The color palette of green and yellow remains fresh and light due to an abundance of white included in the design.
Green is a perfect accent color, especially when paired with other saturated colors such as red. And as they are complimentary colors, they work well together while adding a vibrant energy.
Tip: Using green and red together works best when used in an otherwise neutral room, and keep the tones away from shades typically used in holiday decor.

And finally, even a small touch of green in a room of cool colors brings a touch of warmth that transforms the room.
