Anyone have experience with Futuro or Falmec Hood Vents?
Comments (11)We are on the end legs of kitchen/dining renovation and I have the Futuro Moonbeam, 36", 900 CFM. I love it, both the look and function. My appliance dealer who did not carry this brand is now carrying because he felt that it was way better than anything else that they carried. He ran some of their units that only went up to 600 CFM and we could not hear ourselves in conversation! On the highest setting the unit is loud but not too loud considering the CFM level. My DH has a smelling disability; LOL-he hates smelling cooking odors in the house; so we wanted to go with a high CFM and also I have a 36" Electrolux Cooktop and felt with the high BTU's we also needed it. Futuro was the only one I could find that met all requirements and had the look I was looking for. The raves at their website are pretty impressive, but who would post anything but? I highly recommend them. FYI, if you do get one these are actually plugged into a socket, not direct wired. If you cut the wiring to do direct you void the warranty. I thought that was what it said at the website but my electrician, said no way. But that is the case. The outlet sits behind the false shaft in my case....See MoreAnyone have a shorter Modernaire PS26 vent hood?
Comments (0)Our modernaire PS 26 turned out to be too tall and we are thinking about swapping with a shorter hood so that we have more clearance from cooktop. I want to see how it looks and feels if it is shorter at about 20-24 inches but quite wide 50+inches. Does anyone here have a shorter modernaire? Is it noisier? Does it look odd from the sides?...See MoreAnyone have a Wooden oven vent hood with only 8' ceiling?
Comments (7)Technically, my hood is a few inches too low, but as it is totally metal lined and the kitchen predates the code of 30 inches I am not worried about it - though the hood is not as old as the rest of the kitchen:) The install directions specified 24 to 30 inches. If I did not have a soffit I would simply have pushed it up a few inches. I have seen several houses for sale with similar and even kitchen displays with similar, so the 24" does not seem to be a concern in my area. This hood comes unstained in several wood species and sizes and can be stained or painted. I added the wood applique. https://www.houzz.com/photos/my-pics-work-in-progress-phvw-vp~58830325...See MoreWhere to vent ductless (recirculating) range hood?
Comments (8)I'm puzzled by this question because the hood mfr designs the re-circulating exhaust location, you don't get to choose! Literally 6-8 lbs of grease per year gets released into your home, and unless you're cleaning those filters really frequently, it is going to do nothing for you. The moisture in the air goes no where, and you are shortening the lifespan of your cabinets unless you're degreasing and cleaning them regularly. Just vent it to the outside!!! It is worth it over the lifespan of your kitchen. You know that sticky feeling on your cabinets? That's the grease. It's not good. Just hope you can reconsider....See Morewritersblock (9b/10a)
