Bosch vs Electrolux vs LG Ovens
Comments (9)Hi - Owner of the beloved Electrolux (Icon) 30" double ovens here! I posted the link to a thread below that has more detail on the Elux ovens and some of the features of the different models. While we haven't really explored some of the settings yet (you'll see in my posts there!,) it does a fantastic job cooking everything and I (unexpectedly) really like the controls and that they fade away when not in use - very clean look. Favorite features is the gliding racks - a different amount depending on which model you get. With the caveat that we've only had them installed since March, we do not have a single complaint to report on our ovens. I agonized among the different models, especially the KA Architect II set, but we went with the Elux Icon All-Fridge and All Freezer, so in the end, the combo of the rebate (yay!) and the glowing reviews sold us on the Electrolux. Good luck! akcorcoran Here is a link that might be useful: Elux thread...See MoreLooking for Electrolux and Bosch double wall oven Reviews
Comments (25)Hi again, Lilia. Sears outlet is a wonderful resource. I bought a great Samsung fridge with a teeny dent, yeah in the front, for my daughter, for a terrific price. Sears may be the largest appliance retailer in the world, and their outlet stores are the way they get rid of, or put back into circulation, the dents and scratches or reconditioned items. I had no qualms. Getting a 30" was easy for me as we did a gut reno, with all new custom cabinetry. But, keep in mind that a lot of the fancy, expensive stoves/ranges (not cooktops necessarily) have smallish ovens. Those buyers adore huge flames on their cooktops, and pay little mind to the size or functionality of their ovens(in my opinion). They lust after the searing capability of their stovetops and don't give a hoot about ovens. Tons of expensive ranges/stoves have ovens that are way smaller than 27" wall ovens. Cj47 who posted here is a particular hero of mine, and a respected cook and baker. She modestly gave her opinion and said,' oh, contact me'. Cj has, as I recall, 3 hungry teens. She has a Miele induction cooktop-I have a Bosch induction cooktop. Her cooktop is $800 more. My kids have long flown the coop. She cooks and bakes daily. I am an empty nester, with an anorexic husband(he really hates to eat!) and don't cook much anymore. Yes, my accumulated cooking time amounts to something, but not like Cj. I bake bread as a new hobby, she bakes for real. When Cj says something about cooking or her appliances, I listen, a lot. So maybe a 27" oven is less than your existing oven in interior dimensions but will function just fine with 2 or 3 sheet pans. think of bluestar, capital, aga, etc., owners with much smaller ovens-who have self smug faces because they have 15 foot high flames! Ask Cj, a real cook, who feeds her family well....See MoreWhich double oven? Electrolux or Bosch
Comments (2)We have the Bosch double 30" 800 ovens and am very happy with them. They replaced 50 year old fine working ovens. I chose them because of good reviews re the baking ability of the ovens. I wanted consistent temps, fast pre heat, good baking and good broilers. Unfortunately, I just haven't used them much b/c of the hot summer and the fact that we're empty nesters essentially and dh is a light eater. I have baked bread 4 or 5 times and they performed perfectly. I was surprised that they vent warm air thru the front, into the kitchen, which is a negative, but I am guessing that most new ovens do that. My old ovens did not vent at all. I have not yet used the self clean. They still sparkle like new. So far, I love them and am optomistic that they will perform well. They were installed approx 2.5 mos. ago. Others like elux also....See MoreOven complaints? Monogram, Bosch, Electrolux/Electrolux ICON?
Comments (25)I thought I would update this thread with a recent experience that we had with our Double 30" Electrolux ovens. Installed this August, they seemed fine, until we released the time was running fast on the clock. No big deal. Then we noticed things were taking much longer to cook in the top oven than the bottom, as well as taking much longer to get to temperature. After buying some after market thermometers, we saw the top oven was running 150 degrees below what it said it was running at, unless convection was picked. Bottom oven seemed to run closer to desired temp, but still off a bit. Called Electrolux and had a service company take a look at it. We were not happy about having these problems in an expensive (and new) oven, and requested a replacement. Electrolux said they would get back to us. 1 week later we found out the swap was approved. New oven was delivered, and the temps are running dead on perfect. Every product can have a one off lemon, it's how they deal with it. I am VERY pleased with the service we received, and I would happily recommend Electrolux to anyone who is interested. FYI, regarding the blue flaking, we did have it on both the original oven and the replacement. After the oven was first installed and ran, there were some flakes on the bottom of the oven. After wiping them out the first time, we have never seen them occur again. I attribute it to the first time the oven is moved and not a big deal as it never happened a second time....See Morewekick
